8BT got SUPER wordy though. I didn't realize just how how much bullshit dialogue was in there until I had taken a break and then tired to catch up, and ended up deciding it wasn't worth it. 8BT's humor was worth a chuckle, but its like Subnormality - there is some humor buried in there, but jesus fucking christ brevity is the soul of wit.

If you were caught up and just reading the weekly updates, it was fine. But go back and try an archive binge. Once you pass Act 1 it is like the fucking Fountain Head.

he updates once a year, it feels like. very wordy. i still enjoy it, but its hard to be interested when you go weeks between breaths

its like dragonball z for the kids who got beat up by the kids who watched dragonball z.

Something Positive stopped being funny around the time his Dad got alzhiemers. Its stopped being... what's the word? amusing? a while after that, and I just decided somewhere that I was good and bailed, never looked back.

I kinda wish he'd have kept up with his superhero spin-off which got a few laughs out of my inner edgelord. The Marvel Twinkie ads parody was a work of art though. And his halloween comics.

Oh Super Stupor? Yeah, that was pretty good. Wish he'd kept up with that and The Last Trick-or-Treater. Good stuff.

For me, I didn't mind the Alzheimer's plot. But he's got too many characters in too many arcs to do any of them justice in a page-a-day format. After years of him refusing to trim the fat or hire an assistant or license out characters or fucking anything, I got tired. And it officially jumped the shark when he had Daven, misanthropic dickhead maladjustedly coping with the death of multiple friends, into a bicurious family man.

SP suffers the same problem a lot of webcomics from the same era do: too many arcs with too many characters. What I find weird is that these guys usually make enough to money to hire secondary writers to tackle secondary plot arcs, but they just don't. I don't get it.

Yeah Super Stupor.

I didn't mind the creeping Alzhiemers so much as that was the moment SP very clearly started taking itself seriously. It was still pretty good for a few years afterwards, but went from being funny to "amusing" and then "entertaining".

The problem is Kutz did just as you suggested, hiring a proxy to run his side project. And Penny Arcade did that with the trenches.
The art style shift was really jarring, and niether one did very well.

@Merryweatherey has on account on here and he stopped posting once he got called out for constantly shilling his comics and sockpuppeting, IIRC. He was also involved with Samurai Buyer three years ago. He also didn't pay his South Asian artists until everyone complained about it. Aside from that, MW doesn't get into drama anymore.

Same, Clinic of Horror is the only comic of his that I still read. I thought Crawling Dreams had potential too until it became a fullblown ecchi comic. The plot became nonexistent and he kept introducing pointless characters and filler storylines. I wasn't a fan of his artist either. Osiimi is decent at rendering but her anatomy is terrible. The rest of MW's work is too repetitive and even if I end up liking something of his, he stops updating it.
 
Webtoon is a great website to find bad webcomics on. It seems to be the go to place now a days the same way Keenspot was back in the late 2000s.

Just found this webcomic about a shape shifting mob. Naturally the main character is a super special shapeshifter that can turn in to a purple wolf that matches his purple hair. It even comes with a warning for violence, blood, and gay characters. This supernatural mob is talked about like they're all secret but in the next page you see members walking around in wolf form with little vests on and then shapeshift out in the open. Seriously, I love how the streets are conveniently empty when a guy is screaming about having a knife pulled out of his eye and healing, but then there are a lot of people to see a purple wolf in a jacket run through the streets and don't ask questions. I also couldn't tell that the person in the orange scarf was a woman till it was said in the comic. It really gives me deviant art comic vibes.

I'm sure there are more comics like this on Webtoon, they don't seem to have much in the way of quality control.

From what I've heard, they're running on a massive quantity-over-quality rule--I'd not be surprised in the least if the quality control is just "Can you successfully sign up and start uploading?"

Quality control is for sites that aren't just out to get as much money for the site's owners as possible.
