You might consider this one low hanging fruit but once you have tasted a gros michel banana you cannot return to the subpar bananas we have now.

Graphics cards. We'll never have another GTX 1060 or RTX 580, colossal upgrades for a meaningful price, you have to compete with the AI slop investment bubble abomination now.

Oooh, a 'let's be Peter Kay' thread.

D'yer remember DVDs? They used to be good, din't thee, wi' extras and documentaries and that. Now? It's all bloody Netflix, yer lucky to get so much as a commentary track! Political correctness gone mad.

Pre-Bethesda Fallout and pre-343 Halo are so freaking good. Pre-Disney Star Wars is also pretty kino. There are probably other examples I can't think of right now of franchises that are so drastically different from how they used to be, that they now attract an entirely different group of fans and we are all forced to live under the same fandom and have frankensteined lore.

Quagmire in family guy. I don’t know exactly when but somehow his sex jokes became vile.

Like if it isn’t okay today, how was it okay back then? That’s not how morality works, it doesn’t change over time and it certainly doesn’t change this quickly either.

I won’t defend the creepy jokes but I know some of them made us all laugh hysterically. Now people wouldn’t laugh at them today.

Rolling Rock beer: Used to be really good, but after being bought out they became bottom tier.

The Simpsons and Star Wars: No elaboration necessary.

Buffets: Used to be common and cheap but now are neither.

Any long-lived piece of SW: Bloat and unnecessary UI changes always make things worse.

Your Mom: Used to be hot but really let herself go.

Pizza Hut: might be nostalgia but back when the parents would leave you at home to go out on the town together, ordering Pizza Hut and playing N64 was GOAT. the quality is complete and utter shit now and it is totally inedible.

Video Games: what a shame that Nintendoslop is all that remains of "make games that are fun to play"

The "Culcha": i 'member when back in the 90's and the Aughts people minded their own fucking business, did the best they could, and weren't worried about what the Joneses were doing. Now it feels like fucking EVERYTHING is a competition somehow for the best façade to put up on instagram/tik tok. The BEST virtue signals, the BEST cars, the BEST houses, all of it schmeared across the internet and spoken of ad nauseam. Music sucks, the internet sucks, video games suck, movies are fucking embarrassingly bad, and most of all Social Media is literally Antichrist tier evil.

Depending on what you're reading, or into, comics. They now largely cater to a tourist audience since the gentrification and mainstreaming of comic book culture/fandom. The space was already bad enough, but relatively kept to itself, But now everything has gotten worse with the rise of Cinematic Universes and people not even reading. But these comic companies think the people who scroll Youtube Shorts and Tiktok for out of context panels and information are actually going to read the shit on the shelves with very little titles actually having any thought or quality being put into them.

There’s a mentality that has permeated discourse on media, from both sides of the political aisle, that the portrayal of a concept in media is promotive of said concept regardless of the context said concept exists in. This has dragged down literally all media, where one has to toe the line regarding his target demographic in order not to be torn apart. This, combined with a belief that media needs to “avoid cliché” along with a shifted focus from characters and plots (to the point characters are only ever a venue for clichéd dialogue) to “worldbuilding,” is why the modern media landscape is so bleak.

London.

I moved there for my first professional placement in mid-2005. It was a shithole in many parts to be sure, but it was, by and large, a headdy mix of old London, excitement, all-nighters, music and clubs and comedy venues and shows and fuck-tons of restaurants and high street shops…. I saw the slow but steady erosion; I fucking lived the erosion.

Mere months into my move, the 7/7 bombings took place and that was effectively the nail in the coffin. You could see things become more guarded, and more of an artificial push for the stream of niggers, towelheads and the shitty ends of Eastern European immigrants to be integrated.

Shithole mosques began appearing everywhere and worse, historic buildings and churches made way for this scumcunt religion. The buzz of London life was getting fainter and fainter. Nightmare moments like the Lee Rigby attack and London Bridge bombings were becoming ever more frequent.

IMHO, the final hurrah for London was the 2012 Olympics. It was truly the final time London felt like an exciting, relevant place. Once that was over, there was nothing.

I left in late 2020 and I remember walking along the Thames Path on the night before I left. The feels felt like actual pains in my chest. I no longer recognised the place. Recently on here, someone shared a Friday night photo around Leicester Square and it was fucking dead. When I moved to London, it was standing room only all along Shaftesbury Avenue and you knew it would take you 20mins to get anywhere around Covent Garden and environs. The excitement and the endless strangers you met in these places on nights out made it an incredible adventure.

All gone.

I go back there with my work from time to time, and in the words of some comedian, ‘canal barge in, ejector seat out’.

Canada
It was a nice place where I am, but now it’s full of the worst kind of immigrants, 100x worse homelessness and extremely dirty everywhere. This started in 2012-ish but very noticeable after 2020.
I live in a shithole country now

I'm going to sound like a fatso but

the Big Mac. The beef patty has turned into a thin slice of processed meat with no taste, the sauce is acidic. The lettuce feels like paper. It's a shame what they did to it.

Domino's. It was never good pizza but it was fine a decade ago, a good honest pizza for a student customer base. You know what happened? Jeets and africans, they now make pizzas for brown people (as reflected by their marketing campaign) and it's abysmal. It makes me angry how disgusting this shit is now. I hate browns they ruin everything especially junk food.
