And one year since the launch of the game, you can still fall through the fucking staircase on Level 1. If you're an achivement hunter or just wanted to pretend to play L4D, the window of fun just closed. The only people left are exactly what you mentioned.
I think the stats speak for themselves at this point:

Who the fuck would ever buy another game from Turtle Rock? It's a fool me once shame on you situation. They've now had 2 games that underdelivered and underperformed. Their only hope is to rebrand and hope no one notices. I would give them some slack for Evolve because it seemed like publisher fuckery was the big problem there but there's no excuse for Back 4 Blood.

Back 4 Blood can join Evolve as yet another dead Turtle Rock project. I wonder how long it will be until the servers shut down?
Give it another year and a half? Given how badly Evolve's Free to Play phase flopped I think they'll skip that step this time around.

I was skeptical when they announced their card system and I lost all hope when they stated modding wasn't ever going to be a thing for the game.
Dumb motherfuckers.
It boggles the mind how these people looked at L4D2 and decided that the thing that's kept that game alive for so many years (besides well designed gameplay and maps) was the user created content and ability to mod the game how you see fit, wasn't going to be a thing for their game. They shot themselves in the foot before the race even started.

And I didn't like it, when they divided the human playable characters into "classes" (I think), like how other FPS games have been doing lately, compared to how all of the humans in L4D1 and 2 can all do the same things, and the only difference in them being aesthetics.

Turtle Rock get by entirely through name recognition as "The Studio That Made Left 4 Dead", and people keep falling for it despite the fact that Valve had to tardwrangle TR into making Left 4 Dead the gem that it was. I'm also under the impression that the people working at TR now aren't even the same ones who worked on Left 4 Dead to begin with.

They genuinely don't have any design talent at the studio.

That wonderful video of Crowbcat's compares the credits of Left 4 Dead and Back 4 Bood; the grand total of matching names for both games?

Seven.

to be fair, these days a game needs to be monetized as fuck, you can't just drop it and live of the box sales (unless you get very lucky). and that's before you consider what engine your game is supposed to use so it can be modded, while being able to run and look AAA on last gen consoles AND make them happy that your game won't be used to fuck with their walled garden.

valve can just drop a game into the open and not care how much people do with it, they make their money elsewhere (but even then they culled artifact).

the smart play of TRS would've been to piggyback off a known brand the same way fatshart does with warhammer, then you can sell whatever because you got enough retarded consoomers lapping it up.

Elden Ring wasn't monetized at all. So go back to consuming your games as service crap Moviebob Jr.

I think Back 4 Blood does prove one thing: Valve's autistic drive for perfection in polish and immersion really can and will elevate what was a simple (and good) game, to something that'd be touted as classics in the genre. Turtlerock simply lacked that talent and drive, and it shows so fucking bad.
