It's been ages since I last got deeply involved in any fandom. But I remember that the Jurassic Park fandom (and for that matter any dinosaur fan community) had a habit of bickering over which meat-eating dinosaur could kick the most ass in a fight. Of course T. rex versus Spinosaurus was the most common, courtesy of JPIII (which BTW is pretty much the franchise's black sheep according to fandom consensus). When they weren't pitting theropods against each other, they'd be bitching over whether raptors or any other dinosaurs had feathers.

But I don't remember anything like shipping wars in the JP fandom. If those ever happen at all, it's probably limited to a few heretofore unknown furry sites.

I haven't seen much drama in the DHMIS fandom, but this tumblr thread gave me cancer.

Non-human characters drawn so humanized that they're no longer recognizable? Check. Tumblr fandoms shoehorning their obsession into any post that they can get their hands on? Check.

Fuckin' tumblr, man...

Does the Hetalia fandom still make rape and pedophilia jokes? And was there any 9/11 memorial art with a sad America standing in front of the twin towers this year?

It's been so long since I've looked at anything they've done, but good god.

Those weebs moved onto Homestuck, which in turn moved onto Steven Universe and Five Night's at Freddy's.
