The lawsuit -- filed last summer by two couples who lived in homes that flanked Gopal and Agrawal's house -- alleges that the boy's disruptive behavior also created an "as-yet unquantified chilling effect on the otherwise 'hot' local real estate market" and that "people feel constrained in the marketability of their homes as this issue remains unresolved and the nuisance remains unabated."

To Gopal and Agrawal's dismay, a Santa Clara County Superior Court judge last October issued a preliminary injunction against them to ensure their son does not strike, assault, or batter anyone in the neighborhood or their personal property. The case returns to court Tuesday, when a judge will hear arguments about whether the plaintiffs should have access to the boy's school and medical records.

Too be fair Chris's house has been doing that for years. ADF could do it by just walking through a neighborhood.

Seriously though, if you know your child is autistic and prone to doing violent things to other kids, try keep some sorta control over him. " Saying he's autistic, theres nothing you can do" is a pretty shitty way of going about things(and helping create the next generation of lolcows)
Exactly. I hate how parents with disabled kids just expect the rest of the world to pander to them. Just because your fucking kid is autistic doesn't mean it's impossible to get him to behave like a minimally functioning human being.

Only if they're autistic. It's wrong to hit normal children.

Nah. Kids in general are awful.

Also are we going to start making new threads every time an autistic person does something?

Is this the kind of child that gets an "autistic child" warning sign for drivers put up on the street?
Because I've seen a couple of those, including some "Deaf child" signs

At the risk of being the uncool kid in the thread this is actually very wrong. Sure, if the kid poses a genuine physical threat to neighbours he needs to be kept under control but if the only reason you can find to sue the parents is that your property prices are theoretically being lowered then you really need to ask yourself "am I that much of a cunt?" These people strike me as smart, educated people trying, against the hardship, to raise a child as well as they can in the circumstances. All over the world you've got people like Borb who just abandon the kid in a room full of toys and go "fuck it, time will cure the 'tism" and you end up with Chris or ADF, these parents don't get sued.

By letting him run around biting people and pulling hair? I wouldn't want to live next to this little shit either.

fucking YES. absolutely-goddamn-yes. that's a huge asset to deprecate. if something is fucking with your property, you deal with it. moreover, if someone is actively injuring you fiscally despite your attempts to achieve an out-of-court solution, litigation is completely the right way to go. fuck the feels, get compensated.

So what they should put him in a cage? Or a camp somewhere? He's described as being severely autistic, they've spent money on wranglers and minders. They can't nail him to his bed can they. They also don't provide many examples which indicates that these are isolated incidents months apart

And exactly how is he damaging property prices? Do you Americans have some sort of behavior patrol that goes around various suburbs and marks out where the troublesome kids live and then informs realtors. Do you go on some database and when you make an offer on a house it's like "Well I would offer you $200k but I went on Autistwatch.com and I heard there's a kid like 5 houses away who's a bit of a pain in the ass and now I can only offer you $100k. Is that how it works? "Muh property prices" is just the affluent version of "Muh freedums" and it's deployed in exactly the same circumstances. A thing is happening that a person who is ignorant, or a douchebag, does not like. They have no specific recourse, this child hasn't smashed their windows or anything but hiding bhind 2muh prices" is just a way for them to litigate to drive what they see as an unsavory presence from their community. Just as a side note, Residents Associations that have the power to tell you what colour you can paint your house and stuff, that's ludicrous.

As an actual doctor certified tismo all I can say is there's something fucky going on. Even severely affected kids usually don't act that way without reason, and you'd think the parents wouldn't let him roam unsupervised.

Have you ever dealt with someone on the severe end of the spectrum? Their hulk like strength is nothing to play with. If I was a neighbor I would be concerned too.
I have actually and you're right, they are physically difficult to subdue but luckily I'm trained in physical restraint techniques as part of my work. Most wranglers in the UK receive similar training. Severely autistic children tend to be placed in group community homes with trained carers which are usually positioned in urban areas. Anybody who bleats that such a place is going to damage house values tends to be treated like the insufferable cunt they are by local media and people.

It's one thing to have a community home presumably manned by professionals, and another to have a tard running wild without any parental control. I'm not sure whether the case in the clickbait article in the OP is a tard running wild or an insufferable cunt living next door. Maybe both.

(Incidentally, it's illegal to exclude such group housing from a community solely out of irrational animus against the people who live in it. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/City_of_Cleburne_v._Cleburne_Living_Center,_Inc.)
