I am also a larp-sperg (!!!) who sews (I even went to school for it!). I would post pics of my latest costume (a swampy witch with a modded wig and all), but the powerlevel would be through the roof, so no can do. Maybe once I get enough money to get a mannequin, I could put all that shit on it and then take pics, hmm.

I can also help if you need anything sewing-related explained. :D

I'm also boarding the autistic cosplay train; every year I try and do something in an area I'm unfamiliar with because I like challenges and unnecessary stress. Last year it was learning how to sew and hem a lined, fitted vest (It actually turned out AMAZING, but there's too much powerlevel in my photos :( ); this year I'm making a half-mask and praying it turns out all right since I've never molded anything.

What is the proper way to sew a ball of cloth (stuffed with cotton) without making a ton of weird pulls? (I haven't tried to sew in over a year so I'm probably rusty anyways).

Couple different ways, depending on how you want it to look.
This is good for less-conspicuous seams, and you can find patterns that have a different number of the pieces (like 5 or 6 to make a ball instead of 4) if you wanted to make a beach-ball looking one using different colors of fabric. Just cut the pieces, a little bit of fabric on the outside (like, 1/4" to 1/2" depending on the pattern (I'd recommend maybe a 1/2" seam allowance since it'll be stuffed anyway)), cut small 'notches' in the seam allowance to allow it to curve easier, and leave a little bit of un-sewn together piece. Turn it inside out, stuff, and sew up using a ladder stitch (a video reference here)

The next way is good for a baseball-looking ball (just used it recently for a prop in a show). Same with the other one, just in this one "connect" the stars.
If you want to make a legit baseball-looking ball, red stitching and all, learn from my mistakes, and I'll post a short tutorial-ish thing in a spoiler

So, first of all, take on of the pieces, and cut a line in it. Like, big enough so you'd comfortably be able to reach in to get your needle after stitching.
If your fabric frays, and if you don't have a non-fray solution, make small stitches around the opening. Leave it be for now, and sew the baseball together, with no space at the end to stuff it like before.
Turn it inside out using the line you had cut earlier, and take your embroidery thread and make baseball-like stitches around the seams. When you're done, stuff it and sew the opening using the ladder stitch
Idk if this makes sense, if it doesn't just tell me and I'll try to make it clearer.

Wouldn't the glue make that a little frustrating to work with?

It can be a little challenging, depending on the piece. For some of them which require glue (like classic kusudama, found here), it can actually be an advantage if you fold the modules with the correct edges facing out. If it doesn't need glue, I'll usually use a cotton swab + rubbing alcohol to remove glue traces after construction so the paper doesn't get grimy.

I'm a Larper too. Made this outfit in a hurry for an event last year; but it turned out quite nicely.

I'm quite drunk so forgive me.

I made this clock in hs. The face is a paper cast but I did all wood work and staining. Aside a little tear on bottom you can't tell it's not pro made.

Edit imgur is being mean.. so link only : http://imgur.com/a/S1Xff

The spinal colomn is a nice touch! Where'd you get the pieces and howd you attatch them? I'm currently putting together a post-apocalyptic scavenger and I'm having a tough time with minor details.

It's oxtail! Simply buy some at the butcher, slowcook it, eat the soup, clean them a bit and let them dry. Then i simply made holes in every section with a small hand drill and fastened them with a thick leather thread. Most of the bone i use for my costume come from food :P

For other details there is always cool rusty stuff lying around in the streets/junk yards. Simply be on the lookout and always carry a bag.

Might be a little hard presssed to find anything other than pigs feet at the local shops but I'll look around just in case.Looks like im eating BBQ ribs for lunch for a while. Thanks for the tip though! Wish it wasnt powerleveling to share what I have.

Thats a good idea! Remember to boil the bones at low temperature so they dont get to fragile.

I recommed checking out Wasteland Pirate. He's great at making costumes with many details but with a cohesive style.

Throwback to when I made an entire chess set out of wood. This was back in 2014, IIRC, so it's a little outdated, but I barely do anything besides drawing and writing lyrics.

I found these awesome models of Japanese stores from the 50's and the like from Amazon. They are awesome wooden models and some light up. Usually takes about a day or two to get it fully constructed and painted. Very satisfying and nice to display. Here is one of them for reference from Amazon.

I'm speed making fawn legs rn because I hate myself.

If you're like me and measuring tape is frustrating, just tape plastic grocery bags to whatever part of you that needs to have a somewhat accurate pattern and mark with a sharpie.

I'll try to get pictures if my little endeavor is a success.
