https://youtube.com/watch?v=zs7QEo3LmVEJust got this boo-hooing recommended to me. Advocates for not buying the game, making the claim as other tards have that you're funding Russia's war effort, it's propaganda, bla bla. Of course it's also seemingly just some rando youtuber that covered Destiny jumping into politics because he supports current thing. To top it the comments seem blatantly culled to only leave those supporting his narrative, despite the video having 3.7k dislikes vs 5k some likes.
Whole video can be summed up as 'I Ukranian, Russia bad'

Saw this video on BOTH of my youtube accounts' home page, so it must either have some massive tag manipulation going on or there is some fucky shit going on at youtube.

Going to pirate it to make every side of the argument mad at me for following slavic tradition

The most hilarious is this video now has around 20k dislikes from what I saw.
71k downvotes to 33k upvotes checking just now. He also put a pinned comment about how comments will be limited due to 'bots' so there is an excuse to censor, how hilariously transparent. The sponsorblock add-on also has the skip-to highlight as the last 10 seconds of the video, haha.

Which I think won't happen, as the devs kept very silent on whether STALKER 2 allows mods or not.
For me this is a massive red flag, as @BaldAndMorallyBankrupt said, STALKER has basically been kept alive by us fans. I think its fair to say that at least 40% of STALKER is fanwork due to all the fan patches and mods that turned it from broken Slavjank into playable, fun Slavjank.

The fact they're silent on whether or not to allow mod support for the next entry in a series that basically needed the modding community to stay alive...it doesn't give me confidence. On top of every other issue previously stated.

I am working off the theory now that the Ukie Rage baited and manipulated reddit to get views on his video, its amazing that he could make a video with the constant power outages and Air defense missiles hitting his home.
Didn't this tosser say at the start "I'm actually half Ukrainian" or something, which gives me the impression he isn't even living in Ukraine? Probably somewhere in Western Europe or the US if I had to guess.

Also damn the Stalker 2 devs really silent on mod support? That has to be one of the stupidest things I have ever heard. Would be like if Bethesda said "we not gonna allow modding anymore" or Genshin Impact said "only over 18 western women characters now"
I haven't heard any mentions or talks about mod support, when asked that question the devs kept silent for the most part about it.

"Go listen to Joe Rogan or play Call of Duty"

Was that suppose to be an insult?

I shall wear it with pride.

You know why GSC is being very silent on mod support? Because it will be a) non-existant or b) castrated to hell. The reason being they're supposedly making the new STALKER on Unreal Engine, which means that any sort of modding ability will have to be added by the devs and it will probably be heavily limited anyway.

The reason the original STALKER trilogy had so much fan content made was because of the janky ass X-Ray Engine made in-house by GSC devs. It's a very adequate name as basically all the major elements of the game itself are contained in pure text files. You want to make yourself invulnerable to almost everything, have infinite stamina and infinite carry weight? All you need is a file manager and Notepad.

Not only that, GSC at some point released the source code to the X-Ray Engine, meaning the community was able to fix it up and expand on it. There is a project called OpenXRay which aims to improve the old game engine, however it only supports Call of Pripyat, with support for Clear Sky in the works and Shadow of Chernobyl compatibility being non-existant.

However do note that all the major popular mods are based on Call of Pripyat. Plus, Call of Chernobyl uses it's own modified X-Ray Engine, and STALKER Anomaly has it's own fork of the X-Ray Engine called the Monolith Engine, which is the most technically impressive fork of the original codebase to date, it's even natively 64-bit, and the amount of shit people manage to pull off in Anomaly speaks for itself.

And this is why no matter how fucking perfect STALKER 2 will be, it will never ever overshadow the legacy of the trilogy, as GSC decided that going with Unreal will be the best option, completely killing off any chances of a successful modding community.

And as for Bethesda, the reason they still allow modding is because they are still using their in-house engine that is essentially a massive fork of the Gamebryo engine that dates back to the 90's, which is structured in such a way that modding is actually possible. If Todd Howard ever decides to move to Unreal, expect the modding for Bethesda games to be completely dead, or at least neutered to hell. Not because Bethesda wanted it that way, it's because they couldn't do it any other way when switching to Unreal.

I know that Bethesda's engine is very moddable and alternatives aren't and that is why Todd has been recycling Morrowind code for 25 years. The entire reason that Gamebryo and later Creation Engine are so good is indeed because of this fork. Todd may not be a good writer but he knew what he was doing when he made that thing for Morrowind, the Construction Set allowed for massive modding freedom without them having to release source code by basically having the tool used to make the game ship with it. The idea that I saw floated is that the only way Bethesda can move on is if they do a similar meme by starting a engine from scratch but set the target of "the dev kit should end up looking like the Construction Set"

Of course this is far FAR easier said than done, otherwise Todd would have had it done already. Making a engine from scratch is hard, even when you have such a large company and the Id people and such a big budget, not the least because you would need to justify it to the management and like and those "people" are exactly the reason we get so many games that are absolute uninspired garbage.

Your point about the use of the Unreal engine for Stalker 2 really makes it clear to me people are far more in love and hyped for the idea of Stalker 2 than they are the actual possible product. This sounds like a horrendous hype bubble waiting to happen.

I mean, it already is a hype bubble judging by the prices they offered pre-orders, like 110$ for the most expensive digital version.

Video had like 30k views when I posted it. Holy shit this is some autistic astroturfing by YT. I was surprised hearing just how many people had gotten this in their feeds before even looking at the thread.

Despite all that though it's getting properly slammed in the ratings. Youtube can't really manipulate this anymore without likes and dislikes being entirely disabled because they themselves gutted them. It's too funny.
