At what age does it become weird to trick-or-treat?

Would you say anything if you did see someone you thought was to old trick-or-treating?

I'd say around 12 is too old for trick-or-treating.

I just remembered the time me and the homies went trick-or-treating for shits and giggles. At 16. In regular clothes.
Good times.

the joy of trick or treating doesnt dissapear once you become a teen. i stopped when i was 18 and couldn't do anything fun on halloween because i had night classes. that unofficially marked the end of it.

going out with a large group of friends and walking around the neighbor hood to get snacks is fun

Halloween's always a good time with friends.
Trick-or-treating was the cherry on top.
Might still be, if you're brave enough to go "trick-or-treat!" as a grown man at somebody's door. I know I'm not.

now that i'm an adult i have an appreciation for the other side of trick or treating. i love seeing kids in their costumes coming to my doorstep, i actually get excited to give them candy lol

I grew my height early so now I right those wrongs by giving candy to anyone in costume. Also any teenager plus who's escorting smaller children, they get their own candy even if they don't have a bag or a costume and they didn't ask.

I guess that's the answer: if you think you're too old to trick-or-treat, ask to borrow some children. If you have nieces/nephews, I guarantee your siblings would be stoked let you take over.

As the night gets late, it's just teenagers in hoodies who maybe have a mask. That's fine. It's all part of the circle of life, and the correct place for my Life Stage is in being the candy lady.

edit to add: if you take children trick-or-treating, especially if you are not used to multiple sugar-fueled nighttime child-wrangling, put something that lights up on the back of the child, to make it easier to track them in the dark. Light-up pumpkin/ghost/skull pins are easy to find, or just use a glow stick.

I stopped when I was 12. Just felt too childish and awkward by that point. Had more fun hanging out with friends at one of our homes, getting pizza and watching horror movies

What kind of candy did the dinosaurs give out, grandpa?
