In Ashley's case it started off as a way to say "fuck you mom" but then she got addicted to the amount of attention she was getting, so there's no turning back for her.

Even -if- she were to somehow get better- she will continue to live a painful experience due to the self induced heart problems, joint issues, low bone density etc that was brought on by her eating disorder.

The fact she is still alive despite her body condition score being 0.1 is still fascinating though.

Pro ana and mia forums are also chock full of people who are pretending to have ED for attention, plus a small but consistent number who are actively trying to trigger anyone there who is capable of being triggered.

There is a lack of authenticity in a huge number of the posts. I don't know quite how to describe it, but you know when someone is telling you a story and you just know it's shite? Like, on erowid when you can spot the folk who've never touched drugs in their life but here are their trip reports? That.

Also tbh a lot of them think they know the specifics of how your body starts failing and changing as your weight comes down and down, and they.... well, they don't.

These places are still fucking cesspits though.

Lying about having an eating disorder reaches entirely new levels of pathetic.
 
She's usually really active on snapchat but I haven't seen her in awhile. Every time there's a small period of activity I think "this is it.", but she always comes back somehow. This chick will outlive me and my children and grandchildren.
