Cysero quit AE. (archive)

He also revealed his real name, Ryan Street. Will be working at Zenimax next month. (archive)

Didn't Adventure Quest have some cringy tie-in with Ctrl+Alt+Del or am I imagining things?

Kinda surprised about this because he's had a poor reputation in both AQW and AQ3D for very aggressively pushing microtransaction coins. Wonder how that'll play out over there, considering they got bought by Microsoft.

Yes.

As many issues as I've had with Cysero over the years, he was always the one pushing more and more intense monetization features, this is probably the biggest nail in the coffin, even if it's not the final. While it seems to be more amicable than an outright quitting, the fact is, he's always been the most savvy of the OGs, which means he likely sees the writing is really on the wall this time. There's no way AQW3d is making the same kind of money as AQW, and that cash cow is likely about to dry up entirely with the death of flash, even with their launcher.

The launcher will be useless as the game is made with flash. All flash sites, games, and programs will not work after January 1st because of the time bomb. AE is fucked.

I haven't been able to tinker with the launcher, but I'm strongly assuming that it would work similarly to Adobe's Debug Launcher? Correct me if I'm wrong.

Edit: I was right that the launcher is some kind of custom browser with Flash integration. So their claim of being unable to link Herosmash to it is bollocks.

AdventureQuest might be next on the chopping block to fall to the trans menace.

It started with the change of a Mother Day's statue with a user saying to remove a statue's breasts, a bunch of users voiced 'no' to the change, but the staff went ahead despite the popular vote. So it kind of looks like some morbidly obese... blob.
Now June hits, and another user requested pronouns because its Pride Month. This time the staff went ahead without the playerbase beginning to vote on it
The playerbase warned on the staff saying changes like this is a good way to kill off the game, and the staff ignored it. Then comes the reveal that some of the staff are trans and begin to warn and ban users who voice against it.

I'm working on archiving threads and will edit this post with the archives, but unfortunately there's no way to see deleted posts. Queue is looong (Added archives later in this post)
For now, have these

Mother Day thread: Page 1, Page 2
Pronouns thread: Page 1, Page 2, Page 3 (Ongoing, is it possible to update an archival page later? Or do they update by themselves?)

EDIT 2: The statue originally looks like this and is based of the fertility statue

EDIT 3: Archive didn't catch some deleted posts. There was one user on the first thread who only quoted the whole OP and posted 'nah'. Shame, it made me chuckle.

EDIT 4: Annnd pronoun thread locked by staff. Staff is still going forward with the change though. I noticed the last comment by Doom got deleted but the staff kept every other post by the user, even the 'biology is transphobic' post.... Archive.

lol they're really going the scp route
i love it when these people never explain exactly how XX=Female XY=Male is "grossly simplified" and is "transphobic rhetoric" when it gets brought up. The only thing they have to discredit it is that it's taught to high schoolers.
What else does this guy have? Is he gonna bring up sequential hermaphrodites, which human beings aren't?
Or fucking Kleinfelters sydrome? Does this "actual biologist" think Kleinfelter's is a third gender?

With such concentrations of autism it was only a matter of time.

I'm more surprised that they begun their attack by attacking something hugely Mother's Day related and somehow won despite the playerbase saying voicing against it. I thought these sort of people have dad problems, but holy shit. That has to be an insult to the women playing.
Thinking about it, the 'biology is transphobic' (plus trans woman) thing goes out of the window because of that, if biology is really transphobic, then why remove a genuine woman's breasts on an important event? A few posters even point it out in some variation but it got ignored by staff. And even staff ignored the playerbase repeatedly asking why are they ignored to please the minority. Not surprising that Cray revealed some of the staff are trans (unfortunately no namedrops), but I'm just... shocked that they did that on a goddamn Mother's Day event. I thought the staff would immediately put their foot down on how insulting it is, but I still get surprised.

Sadly, Artix Krieger practically lives in a mansion out in the Tampa area. So if anything, he's living off of the subscription fees and having it pad his retirement fund than to rectify whiners and know nothings.

The AQ staff Leader Hollow came forth and actually put his foot down on the pronouns/extra gender thing despite the lower trans staff wanting and accepting it, if I'm reading it right. That's an unexpected surprise.
"While we totally support a player's individuality, adding extra gender roles to AQ is just not feasible. So many of our players come to play our games and be a part of our community to get away from the real world and the frustrations they encounter in it."

They're only making effort for the usual small Pride items every company does. Hollow is probably going to get eaten alive by the staff or kicked off soon.
Edit: not sure if needed archive, but just in case

There's also the fact that they're trying to push ALL their games into a launcher/steam, without ever thinking that the main draw for all their games was accesibility via web browser.
Instead of having a decent gimmick balancing their insane monetization scheme, now they have nothing and are now being compared to games half a decade more advanced than anything they can come up with.

You're correct about the mansion part. (https://archive.md/wip/ZECPe)

Dema had implied dad issues were part of the problem with being a trans woman. Although the context for this situation doesn't help at all.

I never really followed the stories of any of the artix games, except DF, but I was a guardian in AQ and had the blade of awe, which was pretty cool -- but there was something so appealing about the game that wasn't at all to do with story, or even gameplay really... Idk. If anybody has any storylines they liked let me know. I basically never finished any long quests, I'd just go into the rip in the sky to get the plunger or the hole in the ground to fight skeletons until that stopped being a thing. My build was trash, I was like a dracomancer werepyre wizard, and it got to the point where I just couldn't even win random battles anymore because I was so bad. I really like the AQ art style, it makes me feel like I could make something too, like it's accessible. Feels really strange seeing all that nsfw miltonious stuff, like it's clearly retarded and weird-looking but also nostalgic? I wonder if this is how people get perverted, just pairing good things with bad things, classical conditioning.

I've barely if ever played, and I only caught glimpses of high level play in schooling. The art style admittedly is inspiring- Artix and friends appear to be clearly fans of anime, but they knew how to make it all American nerd. It's like their in house style has a veneer of gloriously nerdy and very homegrown genuine inspired anime and video game fan appeal to it. For all of the shit I give to Artix, he was genuinely inspired to want to make video games and loves what he did back in the day, and he and his crew admittedly are some of the very few overseas fans back in the early 2000s American anime boom to actually dare to go all the way wanting to make their own anime stuff, and came out on top and captured the feel of the era. I can't exactly say in this regard that it's that groundbreaking or phenomenally great, but it's quite an accomplishment in of itself.

I'm admittedly not an expert in the field of sexual psychology. Generally, human decency and the whole thing about power I believe does come into play, but that's all I can cover.

That's the thing, they were passionately sincere once. I sometimes wonder what it would've been like had they made Herosmash during their sincere times instead of apparently making it for a quick cash in on the superhero hype.

Taini, a big name fan since DragonFable's prime days who eventually worked her way up to become community manager in AQ3D, officially stated that she's quitting Artix Entertainment and the fandom as of writing, today.

She states she quit, and explained her IRL side of things. Something to note: She is engaged to a streamer NOT linked to AE (Firelight eSports), but AE claims she was dating on the job.
