Articles & Happenings is the third attempt at a news board on the Kiwi Farms. It is a cursed place. Every moderator who has been assigned here has resigned within a year. During 2016, the political crossfire was so bad it spread to different boards and culminated in me banning American news discussion entirely for several months. It has been deleted in its entirety twice. There is no actual discussion here, it's people posting garbage. It leans much further right than the rest of the site and doesn't particularly conduct discussion because dissenting opinions are dogpiled by a thousand memelords posting shit they read on /pol/ without any critical analysis.

The only rules that can be enforced are empirical ones with boolean violation answers. New threads must cite a real source directly and must use the headline of the article as a thread title without any editorializing. Articles must be archived in some way and must link to the original article. Replies that are one word or a reaction images are automatic one-month bans from the board.

I'm creating this now because it seems like this place is here to stay and is one of the largest areas of the entire site. I might as well throw in bare minimum effort to improve it. I don't even try to find mods for here because they will quit, without exception. I've added new prefixes ("Business" and "Crime") just now.

It's as HK-47 said, there's a fucking election going on, of course a massive amount of media attention is on Trump as it is Biden. It's natural every election cycle. It's only more visible now thanks to the Internet allowing anyone with a keyboard to slap together an article and publish it, facts be damned.
As for why there's been an uptick in Trump supporters, there are some obvious roots. Making it necessary to have an account to see A&N is one of them as you said. The riots and the election are also playing a part. Mass censorship of opinions almost everywhere else is another large reason; despite everything, KF is one of the few places where being openly right-wing is not met with a dogpile of hate. You might get called a fag or a bitch but that's part of being here, not because of politics. At least until people argue politics on here, that's when the insults actually fly.

You may not like it but this is just a result of people not being able to be open elsewhere. Nowadays though, people are finding the comfort in a forum that values free speech and they flock here in droves; not realizing KF is a gossip forum first, not a forum for politics. Probably need a new requirement for posting in A&N and Happenings so people actually try to fit in with the forum first before spazzing out here. There are a lot of names I see exclusively here and that is becoming a problem.
 
If Biden wins, I think a Democrat Enslavement Syndrome thread needs to be announced. The way I saw Joe Biden yell his speech to a parking lot with cars that have loud horns is proof that he jinxed himself, and no one cares.

We can post normally again, but anyone who incites imminent lawless action like a federal plant will be banned.

They're only reposting articles that were already written more professionally somewhere else, and most of their "articles" are either a single paragraph or just completely pointless fluff. The one in question that I deleted just the other day was deleted because the article was already available from better sources that didn't fill their article with Twitter-tier reaction images and then a bunch of random replies from Twitter itself.

Not the Bee is just an aggregate that shits up the stories it finds before reposting them with a bunch of rage-bait, reaction images and hot takes.

The Twitter reaction images are a powerful new innovation in news sites, I'll admit.
 
I can't imagine still caring about Christopher Hitchens in 2021. We have enough present day problems to deal with already.
 
An absolute crime. APC may have been an autistic sperg who gets way too mad about Trump existing, but if either was a condition for removal a bunch of people would be out of here.

iirc he got an automatic temp ban then threw a spaz at null about it, which is probably the worst way to handle it
the perma was more about spazzing at null
