Articles & Happenings is the third attempt at a news board on the Kiwi Farms. It is a cursed place. Every moderator who has been assigned here has resigned within a year. During 2016, the political crossfire was so bad it spread to different boards and culminated in me banning American news discussion entirely for several months. It has been deleted in its entirety twice. There is no actual discussion here, it's people posting garbage. It leans much further right than the rest of the site and doesn't particularly conduct discussion because dissenting opinions are dogpiled by a thousand memelords posting shit they read on /pol/ without any critical analysis.

The only rules that can be enforced are empirical ones with boolean violation answers. New threads must cite a real source directly and must use the headline of the article as a thread title without any editorializing. Articles must be archived in some way and must link to the original article. Replies that are one word or a reaction images are automatic one-month bans from the board.

I'm creating this now because it seems like this place is here to stay and is one of the largest areas of the entire site. I might as well throw in bare minimum effort to improve it. I don't even try to find mods for here because they will quit, without exception. I've added new prefixes ("Business" and "Crime") just now.

Discuss.

New threads should be made like this.

Could the https://kiwifarms.net/threads/greco-turkish-migrant-crisis-2020-megathread.66697/ (mega)thread be renamed? There have been many threads pulled into that one, many of which are not related to the Migrant Crisis or even Greece. For instance, @Jann_Hörn 's post:
It was about conflict brewing between Turkey and Egypt.

@mindlessobserver made a "happenings" post about the Greeks snapping their navy to full alert in response to the Turks getting read to do some oil exploration. No Migrants need apply. Yet his thread was yoinked over into the Megathread.

I believe no migrant related posts or news has been made in that thread since April 5th.

Perhaps renaming the megathread to something befitting it's new purpose, or creating a new megathread about the various Turkish military adventures are in order.

I am sorry if this is the wrong way to ask about something like this.

It's possible, but I know absolutely nothing about what's happening over there, so I wouldn't have the first idea what to call it. @Arm Pit Cream is the OP there, so your best bet would likely be bouncing it off of them.

Well here's the problem, the migrant crisis is also a military one as the turks invaded for that reason.

I refute the idea @Jann_Hörn's post wasn't related to the thread it was very much so, to quote his summary
Relationship between the two so bad that they have stopped most meeting with this being the first in a long while.

Turkey is expanding efforts in Libya and claims to be fighting French soldiers. (Friend of mine says he expects a large draft) Turks are determined not to lose Libya.

Turkey is once again trying to blackmail the EU into giving them money for stopping the flow of immigrants and making the crisis with Greece go away.
1. Happened because Turkey wouldn't stop sending migrants and demanding money. 2 is less related but theres no libya thread and the migrant crisis there is related because of an agreement to send refugees from there to the island if Crete. 3. Refers the first point.

A lot of this is cultural misunderstanding, Turkey has engaged itself in a war both through migration and light military pushing well Greece and the EU at large is seen as "weakened". So when they attack with their navy, it's because they want the oil rights which has to do with impeding into Greece's maritime area, which contradicts the Greek claims of Crete, where the Libyans are being sent.
This also has to do with the fact that the installed turkish Libyan puppets signed an agreement with the Turks going against the claims of Greece, which led to Greece teaming up with Italy.

I'm definitely open to renaming it to reflect the expanded scope "Greco-Turkish Migrant-Military Crisis 2020".

@BONE_Buddy politely asked for the thread to be renamed to something more reflective, I don't understand why you are so anal about trying to keep a title that does not describe any threads added beyond April 5th as stated by @BONE_Buddy and proposing some sort of compromise to keep a misleading name.

Yeah my post talked about the immigration crisis, but it also had breaking information of France deploying troops to Libya. People who wanted to know the information were bereft as the whole translation got muddled into a mislabeled mega thread.

Right after the thread got moved, I made a post asking why. You are the OP and now it seems you are the person who asked for my translations to be moved, yet you did not respond then. Correct me if I am wrong there.

Now additional posts are made generally about Libya and turkey, such as the naval exercises and were also moved, that mention migrants 0 times and later in the thread I say that this has nothing to do with the migrant crisis, but yet again no response. But if you are not the one asking for these to be moved then I will stand corrected. The second translation was about general tensions between ownership of islands. Turkey cites a broken resource treaty, not migrants. It has just simply become a Turkish Hostility megathread.

Honestly, when we make posts to the A&N section it should be to aggregate content and be as informational as possible. If that means a post that deals with more than one subject in a megathread does not get moved then so be it.

Despite this being a complete word jumble from someone illiterate well read, France barely took any Syrian Refugees despite being in the EU. They took 2,900 in 2014 (Germany 41,000 for comparison). I am sure the French deployed troops because of refugees in a pro refugee government...

Long post, but I really do not understand why you have a fixation on the migrant aspect, i.e. why it matters so much to manually get posts moved when maintaining a misleading title. Hope that cleared things up for whatever mod gets to sort out this mess.

There's no analness the only one throwing insults is you, I agree to change the name and proposed an idea, I was explaining it. I don't see you doing anything other then bitching

Again already explained how it relates directly to the over all situation can you read my posts before you reply?

Your article was very vague and 2/3 if the subjects you covered overlapped. Not to mention it's a piss poor translation.
Don't hate the player, hate the game.

@It's HK-47 I've noticed in the riot thread lately that some users have been posting doxes entirely based on data from the whitepages and other aggregator sites. Data from those sites are unreliable at best; in lolcow boards, I think we usually only allow dox with better verification. I'm not sure what the purpose of these lazy doxes is other than dopamine but it may be good to try and get a better standard around it.

I continuously lose track of the riot thread because it jumps by like 30 pages every single hour. You'd be better served just reporting those posts because I don't think that anyone's keeping a particularly keen eye on that thread at the moment. I try to, but every time I step away to get a cup of coffee I come back to another 200 fucking pages about Portland punching itself in the dick and it's very difficult to stay appraised of the while thing.

Sounds good, just wanted to get the temperature of the room before creating extra janny work. :semperfidelis:

They seem to be self-deleting. No one filed any reports and they weren't deleted by a moderator.

There is only one solution for this problem.

Nuke Portland and Seattle.

Not particularly, both of them are alluding to the article being fake news. I can only assume that's why they deleted them.
It was fake news; Someone linked the article on /pol/ and I jumped the gun.

Apparently @Arm Pit Cream posted the same article a few minutes before, deleted it for the same reason, then watched in horror as I fucked up in the exact same way and quickly DM'd me the article proving it was fake news.

Mind sharing the article? I saw the story elsewhere
