Articles & Happenings is the third attempt at a news board on the Kiwi Farms. It is a cursed place. Every moderator who has been assigned here has resigned within a year. During 2016, the political crossfire was so bad it spread to different boards and culminated in me banning American news discussion entirely for several months. It has been deleted in its entirety twice. There is no actual discussion here, it's people posting garbage. It leans much further right than the rest of the site and doesn't particularly conduct discussion because dissenting opinions are dogpiled by a thousand memelords posting shit they read on /pol/ without any critical analysis.

The only rules that can be enforced are empirical ones with boolean violation answers. New threads must cite a real source directly and must use the headline of the article as a thread title without any editorializing. Articles must be archived in some way and must link to the original article. Replies that are one word or a reaction images are automatic one-month bans from the board.

I'm creating this now because it seems like this place is here to stay and is one of the largest areas of the entire site. I might as well throw in bare minimum effort to improve it. I don't even try to find mods for here because they will quit, without exception. I've added new prefixes ("Business" and "Crime") just now.

@It's HK-47 what is the rule on posting new academic articles? A good amount of science related posts on here are just press releases for publications. Can we just do threads on the journal article itself and skip linking the puff piece? The thread "Abstract art with 'pseudo-profound' BS titles seen as more meaningful" reminded me to ask.
 
You know, I think Null made the Happening board it's own thing just to put that song in the forum rules.

I have no idea, I didn't learn about Happenings any earlier than you did and I'm still kind of unclear as to what the point of the subforum is even supposed to be.

The point is an attempt to shut the Coronaspergs up, given that they made like five threads in two days about how THE WORLD NEEDS TO KNOW and their sperging HAS to be on SEO optimization for all the world to see. Only time will tell if this is even remotely effective.

Though I do look forward to when an academic paper puts lives in immanent danger / kills a person.

Oh, uh.. That would depend on the topic of the study, I suppose? That might be more apt to place in Deep Thoughts, but even then it would be sort of an odd fit. I don't think that we particularly have a specific spot where academic papers would be completely appropriate as an OP.

Alright what the fuck, I was regaling people with the tales of my Uncle Jack and how he wasn't a nazi but he was a very active member in the aryan brotherhood(he hated niggers, spics, jews, but was totally fine with gypsies) Not a perfect man but an honest one. And I see all my posts have had their words changed to safe words.

How can we be free if a man is not entitled to the swears of his hard "R"?
