Articles & Happenings is the third attempt at a news board on the Kiwi Farms. It is a cursed place. Every moderator who has been assigned here has resigned within a year. During 2016, the political crossfire was so bad it spread to different boards and culminated in me banning American news discussion entirely for several months. It has been deleted in its entirety twice. There is no actual discussion here, it's people posting garbage. It leans much further right than the rest of the site and doesn't particularly conduct discussion because dissenting opinions are dogpiled by a thousand memelords posting shit they read on /pol/ without any critical analysis.

The only rules that can be enforced are empirical ones with boolean violation answers. New threads must cite a real source directly and must use the headline of the article as a thread title without any editorializing. Articles must be archived in some way and must link to the original article. Replies that are one word or a reaction images are automatic one-month bans from the board.

I'm creating this now because it seems like this place is here to stay and is one of the largest areas of the entire site. I might as well throw in bare minimum effort to improve it. I don't even try to find mods for here because they will quit, without exception. I've added new prefixes ("Business" and "Crime") just now.

There should just be a separate thread for political shit. It's going to get obnoxious as we get closer to the election. We already have threads every time a candidate or Trump tweets something or a thread pops up when a candidate drops out. It's all so tiresome. Sometimes I click on someone's profile and look through their posts and it's just pages and pages of nothing but political threads or Trump threads. Are they boomers or nerds like what's going on here??
 
Also, please name who is complaining about "revenge ratings" so they can be mocked because holy shit, who complains about stickers?
 
Null, why do you make an announcement about it when someone who is enough of a whiny faggot to coin a term like "revenge ratings" comes crying to you? Is their side of the faggot coin reprimanded in a place I just never see or something?
 
Without stickers this place would probably turn into the autright nazi hellhole described in this thread. Without getting negrated to hell for their dumb posts, they'll think they own the place, and most of them are sensitive enough that negrates actually discourage them.

"Revenge Rating" is a legit thing and I take stickers from people who do it. If someone gives you a bad sticker and then you start going through all their posts and just start rating all their shit indiscriminately I will kick you from the system.

I'm getting both people legitimately doing this and being tards and people freaking out over a couple of bad ratings from one person who's just reading the forum normally and rating things. Both are annoying.

The only time that happens to me, besides the creepy sperg, is Deep Thoughts. I never say anything to staff because I think it is funny.

If a forum has a rating system, it's pretty much guaranteed that there will be a subset of users that take the ratings far too seriously. I've seen it happen with other places. If you actually get emotional about getting negrated, you should probably step away from your computer for a while.

Closest I've done was a thread about some autistic event where I went through and rated anybody that posted in it 🧩, mostly cause it was funny to me.

Also, it's always about ratings ain't it?
