Articles & Happenings is the third attempt at a news board on the Kiwi Farms. It is a cursed place. Every moderator who has been assigned here has resigned within a year. During 2016, the political crossfire was so bad it spread to different boards and culminated in me banning American news discussion entirely for several months. It has been deleted in its entirety twice. There is no actual discussion here, it's people posting garbage. It leans much further right than the rest of the site and doesn't particularly conduct discussion because dissenting opinions are dogpiled by a thousand memelords posting shit they read on /pol/ without any critical analysis.

The only rules that can be enforced are empirical ones with boolean violation answers. New threads must cite a real source directly and must use the headline of the article as a thread title without any editorializing. Articles must be archived in some way and must link to the original article. Replies that are one word or a reaction images are automatic one-month bans from the board.

I'm creating this now because it seems like this place is here to stay and is one of the largest areas of the entire site. I might as well throw in bare minimum effort to improve it. I don't even try to find mods for here because they will quit, without exception. I've added new prefixes ("Business" and "Crime") just now.

Discuss.

New threads should be made like this.

Also you use the word boomer too much in your posts. That's the kind of shit that needs to put in moderation.
Noted. Thank you. I don't watch TV anymore; I assume Fox & CNN were the same "quality journalism" you'd expect from a divided political nation. I couldn't stand it.

I noticed you say Tramp instead of Trump sometimes. Why?

I go there to get the news in a medium that mostly matches my own views and allows me to talk to others and make my own opinions of it.
So your complaint centers around A&H not matching your views enough?

Huh? I don't really get what you mean. I feel pretty genuine. I enjoy off-the-cuff, randy humor as much as anyone, just not in a place where I'm going to try and have a serious conversation.
And other people prefer them to be mixed together. Rhetoric certainly includes jokes and humor. You also have complaints about the shitposts, but don't expect some keen insight on a catparty article. If you want to read actual political takes read the threads about actual happenings.

due to the Daily Show
Yeah that shit had me fooled for a while too. Jonathan Leibowitz is a talented critic and rhetorician, but ultimately it was mostly bullshit and all the criticisms he levied at Fox rang hollow when the political tides turned. Similarly the criticisms levied at him turned out to be spot on when he couldn't shroud himself in George Bush anymore.

Disagree. Fox News is The View for conservative boomers. Basically a circle jerk for Donald Trump and a strong bias against the opposing viewpoint.
Not really. Fox and Friends as well as Hannity for sure... maybe the 5 as well. Normal daytime Fox has plenty of reporters who model themselves after CNN anchors minus the open contempt for Middle Americans.

Anyone who watches cable TV news is a pleb. I get a balanced diet of news by breaking into the houses of registered democrats, getting their opinions as i rob them at gunpoint, then i get the counterview from the police once I'm arrested.

Don't be so lazy, you gotta get out there in the world to discover the truf.

Some forms of polling are more involved than others

The board needs to be cleaned up, someone of the threads can be combined in a mega thread. All the trump stuff needs to be combined into a Trump 2020 relection campagn thread, the bay area stuff all together, the wall stuff all together, Bloomberg all together, Bernie all together, etc... I have sent some reports about this but a few times it does happen.

It's a good way to bury a story you don't like that's for sure.

Bury a story I don't like, I don't have any personal stake in any story published by the MSM or the non mainstream, if there is anyone like that on this website? I question their priorities in life. This was all about combining threads as there are like 4 separate Bernie threads that can all be put in one massive thread about how Bernie is getting fucked over as an example.

What you're talking about is a common tactic by activists on boards to bury information they don't like.

You let them put it in a mega-thread so nobody but the regulars see it or post so many junk stories after it that it goes off the first page.

I thought these activists were into censorship, banning the whole board, deplatforming, etc... True I see how making a megathread leads to a person a bigger effort to read through the whole thing and its gets glossed over, however its still there to see. However with the Bernie situation and the Virginia situation, all of those stories shared so far are all anti governor blackface and anti DNC, making that a megathread makes sense rather than 4 articles all saying the same thing that the DNC sucks or Governor Blackface sucks.

They are, but when it's a place where calling somebody racist won't get them instantly removed you gotta get creative and making it harder to find the information is almost as good as censoring it.

Glenn Greenwald who just got busted for internet shenanigans in Brazil talking about how to do similar things right here.

I'm not saying that only the left does it either, both sides are guilty and that's why I don't like the idea of megathreads for any politician or event to a degree.

Sometimes it's a good idea. The Squad megathread is almost always on the front page. Nobody has to resort to any gay bumping shit because at least one of the four of them is always doing something stupid.

I'm not completely opposed myself it's just the potential for abuse that concerns me really. Either way has it's problems and ways to abuse the system though.

You mean Fox and Friends, right?

Not Fox News in general, I'd say. If you've ever seen Hannity and Carlson, yeah they have strong bias against the opposition, but they're not inclined to defend DJT right away. They are more focused in talking about conservative viewpoints and their opinions on the world. They are not focused on talking about Tramp, they just like to talk their populist and religious viewpoints, which I can respect. The network itself is not exactly pro-Tramp, That's a common myth that spreads around, but they do report on him more fairly than the left-wing media outlets. Fox and Friends is The View for conservatives and even then, it's not even the fucking View. It's a goddamn Good Day New York expy.

There's actually been a study on this. Almost no major media outlets have mostly positive mentions of Trump, and this is even including Fox. With Fox, if you took a couple of outlier shows out of the data set, it would likely be comparable to the numbers you see in WaPos coverage at the time of this study.

Someone should move the lazy bait articles about SJWs and race that keep getting posted in other off-topic boards (i.e. Multimedia and Hulkamania) to keep it contained. In many cases they're redundant to discussion threads already existing in those boards and people are pasting full article text into the OP there which could lead to the whole SEO problem happening again if they aren't being hidden from anonymous users.
