Articles & Happenings is the third attempt at a news board on the Kiwi Farms. It is a cursed place. Every moderator who has been assigned here has resigned within a year. During 2016, the political crossfire was so bad it spread to different boards and culminated in me banning American news discussion entirely for several months. It has been deleted in its entirety twice. There is no actual discussion here, it's people posting garbage. It leans much further right than the rest of the site and doesn't particularly conduct discussion because dissenting opinions are dogpiled by a thousand memelords posting shit they read on /pol/ without any critical analysis.

The only rules that can be enforced are empirical ones with boolean violation answers. New threads must cite a real source directly and must use the headline of the article as a thread title without any editorializing. Articles must be archived in some way and must link to the original article. Replies that are one word or a reaction images are automatic one-month bans from the board.

I'm creating this now because it seems like this place is here to stay and is one of the largest areas of the entire site. I might as well throw in bare minimum effort to improve it. I don't even try to find mods for here because they will quit, without exception. I've added new prefixes ("Business" and "Crime") just now.

It's also gay when people smugly characterize any defenses of A&H as "persecution complex" or "knee-jerk reactions" or "lol A&H hoes mad", as if any attempt to argue for A&H is in itself irrational.

It is also loaded with the assumption that any complaint made against A&H, no matter how banal or moronic, is merely "criticism" that should just be accepted without issue.

I mean, I get where you're coming from. There are legitimate arguments being made on both sides. I just personally think that it would be best, as was mentioned before, to set new rules and standards in place, and make those rules known. This debate's been going on since long before I joined, it seems, and I'd very much like to see a solution that at the very least placates both sides. It just seems that the spedposters feel like any attempt to clean up the board is a personal attack against them, which it isn't. Most people like me just want actual discourse in our posts instead of 'die mad liberals lmao'. There's places on the board to shitpost and be a shithead, plenty of them. Why A and H?

It's pretty simple. I see threads disparaging Pakistanis and Muslims regularly because the controllers of the United Kingdom let in a bunch of Pakistanis, many of whom are terrible people, and somehow it's the fault of the nation of Pakistan or all Muslims if a few of them act up.

And not just on A&H.

I don't complain, because stupid conservatives who have to find some brown person to blame rather than take a look around at reality are just like that. One must simply laugh at such people.

However, the reality is that being targeted by the same people responsible for the present situation that the UK is in- the same sort of people that @Iwasamwillbe worships*, despite being a member of a religion that says his Christ was killed by them- is not a tenable position. If people want to sperg in freedom about 'wHy dOesN'T jOnAthAn YanIV gO To JaIL foR pRopoSiTionING TeeN gIrLs', that is going to be threatened by discussion of the root issues.

Josh jokes about this, but the reality is simple. You can't host a board that allows discussion of bad actors who are Jewish, without forbidding discussion of their Judaic origins, without becoming a target. Just make it explicit. No criticism of Jews or discussion of how Zionists affect society and politics, at least on the lolcow boards.

I'll admit, I'm personally tired of the overt super-racism here myself, but then again, I've been on a deranged anti-tranny crusade as of late, I can't judge. A part of me thinks that it should still be allowed, if contained, in the spirit of free speech, but I agree that all the stupidity spilling into cow threads pisses me off. It's one thing if it's an offhanded joke like I see Wrangler or someone else make every once in a while, but it's another if half the thread's replies are 'niggers lmao'

I find this offensive myself, but I think that even racist conservatives can be educated to love everyone. That said, there's not really any threat to the viability of the site caused by stupid anti-black racism. I don't doubt there's some overly-sensitive crybaby who's screaming 'muh racism' here and a 'this board sucks this was better when blankity blank blank blank' there, but most people I know who have a stance on this issue just want people to stay with the damn plot and add something constructive. I'll engage with some dude touting a Jewish conspiracy in Deep Thoughts, that's practically a shitpost board in itself at this point, but when I personally go to A&H, I go there to get the news in a medium that mostly matches my own views and allows me to talk to others and make my own opinions of it. I thought that's what the board was for, honestly.
