Articles & Happenings is the third attempt at a news board on the Kiwi Farms. It is a cursed place. Every moderator who has been assigned here has resigned within a year. During 2016, the political crossfire was so bad it spread to different boards and culminated in me banning American news discussion entirely for several months. It has been deleted in its entirety twice. There is no actual discussion here, it's people posting garbage. It leans much further right than the rest of the site and doesn't particularly conduct discussion because dissenting opinions are dogpiled by a thousand memelords posting shit they read on /pol/ without any critical analysis.

The only rules that can be enforced are empirical ones with boolean violation answers. New threads must cite a real source directly and must use the headline of the article as a thread title without any editorializing. Articles must be archived in some way and must link to the original article. Replies that are one word or a reaction images are automatic one-month bans from the board.

I'm creating this now because it seems like this place is here to stay and is one of the largest areas of the entire site. I might as well throw in bare minimum effort to improve it. I don't even try to find mods for here because they will quit, without exception. I've added new prefixes ("Business" and "Crime") just now.

He was also the one having a shit fit over people disagreeing with him, telling people to fuck off for merely pointing out that outside of the coasts and cities, the regional dialects are so different it's almost another language. He also strawmanned everyone saying China projects more internal unity than they have as calling them 'rice niggers'. It was like Mr. Tickles wearing a Null suit.

He more-or-less just said "I think people claiming China is a paper tiger are kidding themselves" and provided evidence based on national unity and GDP. In response, users started claiming infighting between the Manchu and Han ca. the 1890's was evidence that China was some polyglot multi-ethnic disaster in the making. Never mind that there was an intervening 40 years of civil war after the Manchu and Han Chinese fought each other that invited all the typical ethnic purges civil wars normally attract. In response he received essays about how "I can't believe you're this much of an idiot" from the shut-ins who react to any breaking of the resident circlejerk with condescending hostility.

That final sentence finally made it clear what 2019-2020 A&H reminds me so much of - Hillary fans in the leadup to the 2016 election. Same kind of attitude, same kind of screeching over mild disagreement, same tendency to drive people who ultimately agree with them (I actually think Null's wrong on the China issue) to sympathize with the opposition because of how obnoxious their supposed allies are. Nietzsche was right warning everyone about spending too much time looking into the abyss.

I only responded once to him and got such a nasty response I immediately left the arguing to the guys.

I find it absolutely fascinating that A&H is narrow-minded enough that even a slight concern about WW3 because Trump bombed a Middle Eastern country is met with disgust and fantastic worship of Trump. Meanwhile, it's blended with /pol/ rejects that believe Israel or "Zionists" are directly responsible with Trump's decision to send airstrikes to Iran.

Especially so, that even discussions from Supervisors such as @Cosmos or Dear Leader himself is not immune to the fervor that awaits having a different opinion. As an aside, how did China get into that discussion? If you're defending China's authoritarian government, just wait until you're not useful anymore to them. They'll sell you down the river in a heartbeat.

"Slight concern?" @Null and @Cosmos were both hysterical in their posts. As anyone on this site should know, that tends to draw more shitposting than being calm and reasonable.

Personally, I stay weary with debating with the site's moderation powers. They can ban you at any time for any reason.
