Articles & Happenings is the third attempt at a news board on the Kiwi Farms. It is a cursed place. Every moderator who has been assigned here has resigned within a year. During 2016, the political crossfire was so bad it spread to different boards and culminated in me banning American news discussion entirely for several months. It has been deleted in its entirety twice. There is no actual discussion here, it's people posting garbage. It leans much further right than the rest of the site and doesn't particularly conduct discussion because dissenting opinions are dogpiled by a thousand memelords posting shit they read on /pol/ without any critical analysis.

The only rules that can be enforced are empirical ones with boolean violation answers. New threads must cite a real source directly and must use the headline of the article as a thread title without any editorializing. Articles must be archived in some way and must link to the original article. Replies that are one word or a reaction images are automatic one-month bans from the board.

I'm creating this now because it seems like this place is here to stay and is one of the largest areas of the entire site. I might as well throw in bare minimum effort to improve it. I don't even try to find mods for here because they will quit, without exception. I've added new prefixes ("Business" and "Crime") just now.

Islamic Content is mostly a meme rating these days, I often see it used jokingly. Autistic, I don't know, it's apparently used in a negative context many times. But either way,

Yes, a number of Dumb ratings is better than a number of KYS posts or incoherent angry rants and I wish people would simply shrug the ratings off and keep arguing rather than give ground and leave.

The other nice thing about the rating system is no matter how bad you got dogpiled by negratings, chances are if you click for detailed results you'll see one or two green "agree" checkmarks there too.

The people here are smarter than people in other sites when they’re not typing essays or entire lectures on why X group is shit or why Y group had whatever coming to them (which I’m not saying happens too much, but happens frequently enough for me to notice). I’ll admit I’m guilty of falling into that line of thinking sometimes which is gay

I guess if you want smarter discussion someone should just make some guidelines on how to discuss shit. Also the schizophrenic conspiracy theory rants should stay. I love those.
 
Do ratings really bother people that much? Can someone explain this to me more? For me its just a button and some options, I don't really think about it at length.

You're new here - there are lolcows who base their entire identity on how people rate them online, because they have no other form of social interaction. There's an actual physical reaction in the brain when this happens; for some people, it's the only thing that can cheer them up.

This is a genuinely interesting question.

I have no love for the Han Empire. I am not Han, and no matter where I live in the world, the Han Empire and its people will inevitably want resources from my nation and enough control to ensure that the resources flow without interruption. That is bad. On the other hand, the Han Empire is better than the empire of the Great Satan because it only wants stuff and enough power to ensure it keeps getting stuff. It does not want to destroy my soul.

I can't understand these people who like Han people, who are uncouth and eat food made from the shittiest parts of any animal, but oppose the natural political expression of the Han people, the Chinese Communist Party and its Empire. And to think that Hong Kong should be 'free' under modern Western 'values' so that you can be fired, lose your livelihood and be socially ostracized for saying things like 'I don't think kids should be raped', as occurs in Western countries*? That's pretty whacky, in my book.

Was there really some guy having his on-topic posts deleted because he suggested it wasn't a big deal that some Chinamen weren't being allowed to take trains or planes because they are serial fraudsters or members of the Falun Gong cult?

* which are being invaded by the Han demographically anyway

While there is quite a bit of apparent right wing bias among users in the A&H board, people with non-leftist opinions don't really have anywhere else to go. Especially with a lot of sites deleting and banning people for apparently no reason, such as the Vestibule on IGN. They do it a lot but generally leave left wing posters alone. To be honest, it is very difficult to moderate any kind of forum regarding potentially controversial subjects such as politics and religion. I actually prefer A&H as my main source of news nowadays due to it not being CNN or Fox. Of course you're gonna get your shit stirring autistic postings, but the rating system usually takes care of that. If they persist on posting ridiculous crap, oh well, it's not like internet stickers are really important.

Autistic - You keep doubling down on your retarded opinions and are shitting up the discussion because of it.

Am I going to say it shouldn't be allowed? No, this site is one of the last bastions of free speech on the net. This is yet another thing I like about A&H: everyone here is free (within certain limits and rules) to sperg out even the most asinine opinions and statements, to show a complete lack of self-awareness or self-reflection, and they aren't above criticism while doing this either.

It's a boon for finding politispergs on all topics.

To be honest, there is something really cathartic about getting worked up reading some dumb shitpost, only to remind yourself it's some faggot behind a screen trying to make you angry.
Now, admittedly the posts consisting solely of an overplayed meme are as close as you could get to an objectively bad post, and I wouldn't mind seeing less of those.
That being said, all the whining about muh pol, muh raycism is really hilarious, considering the state of let's say tranny threads. I mean, if you can't handle political bias and appreciate the posting for what it is, that's on you. I had lots of great, (somewhat) sincere discussion here so I really have to disagree regarding overall quality of posters. You just might have your head up your own ass, so loosen up and tighten your seatbelt. It's gonna be a bumpy ride, nigger :cunningpepe:
