Articles & Happenings is the third attempt at a news board on the Kiwi Farms. It is a cursed place. Every moderator who has been assigned here has resigned within a year. During 2016, the political crossfire was so bad it spread to different boards and culminated in me banning American news discussion entirely for several months. It has been deleted in its entirety twice. There is no actual discussion here, it's people posting garbage. It leans much further right than the rest of the site and doesn't particularly conduct discussion because dissenting opinions are dogpiled by a thousand memelords posting shit they read on /pol/ without any critical analysis.

The only rules that can be enforced are empirical ones with boolean violation answers. New threads must cite a real source directly and must use the headline of the article as a thread title without any editorializing. Articles must be archived in some way and must link to the original article. Replies that are one word or a reaction images are automatic one-month bans from the board.

I'm creating this now because it seems like this place is here to stay and is one of the largest areas of the entire site. I might as well throw in bare minimum effort to improve it. I don't even try to find mods for here because they will quit, without exception. I've added new prefixes ("Business" and "Crime") just now.

I was bad enough during all the non-degeneracy months that I had to start using "ignore" for the first time ever. Welp, if it only matters one month a year it's better than never I guess. 🙄

Hackers have exploited vulnerabilities in older versions of the MinIO object storage software to infiltrate corporate networks and execute malicious code on compromised servers. These attacks often involve a chain of exploits that allow threat actors to gain administrative access, replace legitimate software updates with malicious ones, and ultimately gain remote control over the affected MinIO server.

To prevent such incidents, it is crucial to update MinIO to the latest stable version and implement robust security measures for exposed servers.

Attackers often convince users to downgrade to an older, vulnerable version of the MinIO software.

They then exploit vulnerabilities like CVE-2023-28432 and CVE-2023-28434 to gain remote access and steal administrative credentials, such as the MINIO_SECRET_KEY.

With access, attackers modify the legitimate software update URL to one they control.

A tampered update file replaces the original software, containing added code that allows attackers to execute remote commands.

Attackers use this backdoor to run Bash commands and Python scripts to further infiltrate the system.

Red Hat, NetApp, Cloudian, Pure Storage, or open-source platforms like Red Hat Ceph Storage are also good alts to MinIO if the problem(s) continue.
 
New rule specifically for A&N: Any thread about OnlyFans / other pornographic self-serve websites is not allowed.

Literally every article about "Prostitute slams ONE THOUSAND DUDES in a SINGLE DAY" is an advertisement disguised as ragebait. Every single one.

News about OnlyFans being sued for sex trafficking etc is fine, but ragebait bullshit about "SPICY CONTENT model BARRED FROM CCONVENITON" is literally just a porn advertisement you're posting to my fucking website.
