Articles & Happenings is the third attempt at a news board on the Kiwi Farms. It is a cursed place. Every moderator who has been assigned here has resigned within a year. During 2016, the political crossfire was so bad it spread to different boards and culminated in me banning American news discussion entirely for several months. It has been deleted in its entirety twice. There is no actual discussion here, it's people posting garbage. It leans much further right than the rest of the site and doesn't particularly conduct discussion because dissenting opinions are dogpiled by a thousand memelords posting shit they read on /pol/ without any critical analysis.

The only rules that can be enforced are empirical ones with boolean violation answers. New threads must cite a real source directly and must use the headline of the article as a thread title without any editorializing. Articles must be archived in some way and must link to the original article. Replies that are one word or a reaction images are automatic one-month bans from the board.

I'm creating this now because it seems like this place is here to stay and is one of the largest areas of the entire site. I might as well throw in bare minimum effort to improve it. I don't even try to find mods for here because they will quit, without exception. I've added new prefixes ("Business" and "Crime") just now.

Discuss.

New threads should be made like this.

A fascinating ruleset. I'm sure it will lead to many scintillating and not at all repetitively discussions over whether something counts as a rebuttal to a point and not just fluff.

As an aside, whoever wrote them is a thunderously autistic faggot. Well done.

"But Black Dynamite, I post reaction images on the Internet!"

The complete ban on reaction images bothers me, because sometimes a funny pic or gif is a great reply and gets upvoted a lot which shows people find them funny.

It's a very SA style rule of policing content and solves a problem I just don't see, because in absence of enforcing this rule for a long time we're hardly inundated with hundreds of posts of images and one word replies. I remember paranoidly editing posts on SA afraid I'd missed a capital letter or needlessly adding words to pad it lest I piss off a janny due to "low content".

Unless it has been enforced all along and mods are spending hours a day deleting them and we never know it.

Other than that, I agree with everything else.

Like most rules it is just part of the general rule of don't shit up threads and be an unfunny sperg to the point people are complaining about it. The main time I've seen it enforced was when someone was continually shitting up threads with reaction images and zero content posts.

It also seems an image accompanying an actual post usually flies, but just responding with a reaction image and nothing else doesn't.

Yeah this isn't about people using a reaction gif to illustrate a post, it's about people having nothing to contribute besides the .gif
If you make even the most token effort to articulate a point beyond the gif it's ok.

Is it so much to ask that when replying to a thread with a title like "Can You Please Just Suck The Girldick?: An Op-Ed" you reply with something more than "No." No, faggot. One word. Just add one more word.

Keep in mind this used to be a one-month ban from A&H, shortened to 1-week, and if you aren't a useless pink triangle newfriend or a semi-regular I'll sometimes just edit your post quietly to add that you do like the taste of cum so that a ban isn't necessary. Or just a polite delete of the post without the penalty. What happened to standards? What happened to bare minimum?

I think I sometimes get posts removed or get banned from A&H and don't realize it.

The crowd actually picked the "good" films last night and we found a great gif.

Can we make it rule people have to post the scihub link to any study that gets talked about here? Ill be willing to make a quick tutorial on how to do that or even just hey if you want to almost any academic article heres how you do it.

Should have them just link to the DOI. It would give all the info needed to check validity and reliability of the articles at a glance since it states exactly what journal its from, etc.
