Articles & Happenings is the third attempt at a news board on the Kiwi Farms. It is a cursed place. Every moderator who has been assigned here has resigned within a year. During 2016, the political crossfire was so bad it spread to different boards and culminated in me banning American news discussion entirely for several months. It has been deleted in its entirety twice. There is no actual discussion here, it's people posting garbage. It leans much further right than the rest of the site and doesn't particularly conduct discussion because dissenting opinions are dogpiled by a thousand memelords posting shit they read on /pol/ without any critical analysis.

The only rules that can be enforced are empirical ones with boolean violation answers. New threads must cite a real source directly and must use the headline of the article as a thread title without any editorializing. Articles must be archived in some way and must link to the original article. Replies that are one word or a reaction images are automatic one-month bans from the board.

I'm creating this now because it seems like this place is here to stay and is one of the largest areas of the entire site. I might as well throw in bare minimum effort to improve it. I don't even try to find mods for here because they will quit, without exception. I've added new prefixes ("Business" and "Crime") just now.

Discuss.

New threads should be made like this.

Love the site, hate the politispergs. Simple as.

Trombonista thinking the vaccine thread is retarded is not a political bias, it's an informed opinion stemming from jcrowley who made literally thousands of accounts, dozens a day, to post about how vaccines gave him autism and how Chris has autism becomes of vaccines. This is from 2012~2014, before your time. There's more nuance than that but you forget you're the minority opinion and this isn't a political debate site so you shouldn't be shocked some people think you're a retard who also happen to have been staff since before I ran the site.
>Trombonista thinking the vaccine thread is retarded is not a political bias
lol the thing with Ride sure, but really?
> this isn't a political debate site
No one is arguing this, but it's absolutely true that some of the most vocal people calling for the off topics boards to be axed are the same people who make a community watch thread for whatever flavor of the month political topic they want, sometimes even shoving out more neutral threads on the same topic. For instance, there was a covidiots thread that was created a month before the covid conspiracy thread and contained actual lolcows. Here's just a sample of the difference in content from the OPs.

One would think that the thread that for one, came later, two, was not created by a moderator, three had kinda eh maybe cow content, and was meant to appeal to only one side of the political spectrum would be axed in favor of the other thread but it wasn't. Meanwhile, you have threads like the one I made for Hunter Biden being axed despite us having a thread for Trump who was an actual politician. The issue which is likely concerning a lot of people is that there does seem to sometimes be an absolute rigidity with the rules on one side, but a very high degree of flexibility with the rules on the other side, and this is leading people to be skeptical of moderation decisions that they otherwise wouldn't be.

Also claiming the site is apolitical while simultaneously being obsessed with the Guntverse (multiple front page features) is a bit confusing

You can't separate Ralph from his politics. Its part of the discussion.
Eh, I see what you're saying but I disagree to an extent. Ralph can be laughed at and mocked for seemingly wanting to be a savior for the white race while amounting to nothing more than white trash. And he can be laughed at by everyone for that, even those who actually take that shit seriously. It's not really divisive unless you deliberately make that the focus of discussion. Admittedly, maintaining that requires a bit more maturity and sense of self awareness that many newfags are lacking (as you eloquently put it recently, being a newfag is more a state of mind rather than a date on your profile).

I think a better example of how people get easily funneled into the politisperging of this board is the site's very outward facing stances on free speech and telling people to fuck off if they don't like it. That is undeniably a right wing stance (these days) and you can't be surprised when your userbase starts to reflect that, and have discussions that spiral outward from that topic into all things political.

Community watch
Beauty parlor
Internet famous
The literal entirety of Weeb wars
The literal entirety of the Rat Kings subforum
probably more that I'm not thinking of

There's a lot of examples of the site having political content, as a lot of the cows are inherently political. You'd be hard-pressed to make fun of Hasan Piker or Nick Fuentes without it getting political. Ditto even for [insert tranny here] or [insert commentator here]. I do, always have, and always will find the idea that this site is inherently apolitical a joke as it's the opposite in fact and form. You don't see people in the Trump Derangement Syndrome thread making apolitical jabs nor would you find that in it's opposite the Trump Enslavement Syndrome thread. The ResetEra and SomethingAwful threads are also political in nature. Hell there's a thread in the Lolcows section on Donald J Trump, and this site is apolitical? Yeah, okay, sure.

most people accept that other opinions exist and that there are cows and morons in their political group, whatever it may be. being able to laugh at a retard in your own political group is normal and fun.

believing that the existence of opposing opinions is an indication of bias from the website is the kind of lunacy worth laughing at. Trump was a cow for decades before he ran for office, there's a few politicians like this in any party. He was honestly funny as fuck, like any cow. Biden is a political career asshole, do we need a thread on McConnell? they're roughly equivalent, career politicians aging out of office but wanting that sweet insider cash to keep flowing.

There's a right-wing lean in articles & news but who cares. If someone acts like a ridiculous moron, they're worth watching for a laugh. The last thing this site is, is "biased against the right wing".
Mock them all.

The leanings of the posters in A&N do not really matter in my opinion, the worst they can do to you is give you a negative sticker and those don't do anything as far as I'm aware. It's not like Reddit where your posts get removed if people downvote them.

I tend to believe Null has a soft spot for politics. If he didn't, wtf is this shit:

I actually really respect he gives political retards a space without being randomly subjected to child porn and cartel dispatching. That is part of why I avoid /pol and I think there are quite a few members here that agree with that.
Don't forget about the interracial porn spam, it's an integral part of the /pol/, post-2016, experience.

I do agree with Null that making offtopic posts in the non-offtopic boards is an issue, but I don't necessarily think it is just an issue with A&N newfags; for example, I recall, dozens of pages of the digibro thread clogged up with the loli debate and I'm sure there are plenty of similar examples. Regarding the Joe Biden megathread deletion, if all threads on Biden were shadowbanned then I would be suspect of mod shenanigans but I fail to see how dispersing the megathread amounts to any form of censorship. At worst it amounts to a minor annoyance.

There's a difference between accepting that political talk is happening on your website and saying that it has no place.

Can't even do that nowadays fam.

It's a clear case of a janny (probably drunk or whatever) deciding that it was a good idea to fuck with their perceived political adversaries. I genuinely like my interactions with @Ride over the years but it wasn't a decision that would've made any sense outside of that context given how many threads there are in the Happenings section like the Covid thread that had similar activity. I'm not going to pillory a member of the community like that over a small fuckup but it was a fuckup and it was politically motivated.

Also, let's not forget the admin who ended up being doxed for bragging about being one on here who was a giant alog (albeit an understandable position) of Tommy Tooter. It wouldn't be the first instance of admin malfeasance on this site though it obviously isn't quite as serious.

personally I got more into the political/news talk around here as the "lolcow" became more about creepy rape types, internet drama and live streamers and stuff compared to say, wogglebug chick who just makes weird content and punctuates it with youtube updates from the wogglecave

It's why I'm so invested in the Sammie Bushart universe. I like the real life crazies.

If you think that the thread being locked was a conspiracy I am begging you to leave. I want a list of suggestions for other sites you can go to. I will pin them as a sticky on the board.

Ride literally explained what the technical limitation is and people read this and didn't see what was plainly stated but instead invented some conspiracy. Ride is not a new moderator, he's been here since before you.

You need to leave. If you can't figure out what Ride said you have to go. /pol/, Daily Stormer, anywhere. Please leave.
You are a magnet for bullshit. Just accept it.
This is your life. Your only successful endeavor is the acquisition of the cwcforums and even here the bullshit comes banging at your door.
Bullshit is your life. Bullshit is your everything. You don't get a say other than to ban those who go too far. And even they who do will make socks and shit even harder onto everything you worked for.

Welcome to your bullshit life.

There's a solution for everything. Sorry to disappoint.

Wait, there was an admin on here who doxed themselves to Tooter? I've heard something like this mentioned before but how dumb do you have to be to do something like that? Especially when given a broom here.

Null's own political leanings on top of his advocation of Ride's action to close the thread make this really hard to believe. It also makes it look like you hold this belief purely out spite.
