Articles & Happenings is the third attempt at a news board on the Kiwi Farms. It is a cursed place. Every moderator who has been assigned here has resigned within a year. During 2016, the political crossfire was so bad it spread to different boards and culminated in me banning American news discussion entirely for several months. It has been deleted in its entirety twice. There is no actual discussion here, it's people posting garbage. It leans much further right than the rest of the site and doesn't particularly conduct discussion because dissenting opinions are dogpiled by a thousand memelords posting shit they read on /pol/ without any critical analysis.

The only rules that can be enforced are empirical ones with boolean violation answers. New threads must cite a real source directly and must use the headline of the article as a thread title without any editorializing. Articles must be archived in some way and must link to the original article. Replies that are one word or a reaction images are automatic one-month bans from the board.

I'm creating this now because it seems like this place is here to stay and is one of the largest areas of the entire site. I might as well throw in bare minimum effort to improve it. I don't even try to find mods for here because they will quit, without exception. I've added new prefixes ("Business" and "Crime") just now.

I didn't see anywhere in the lock message where Ride explained the technical limitations. In fact, the poor communication from Ride is what led to all the conspiracy theories in the first place. Protecting your worker bees is one thing, but if you're surprised that people freaked out over this then I think you're in the minority. Can you give us a clear number on the new page cap for threads so this doesn't happen again? The only person here that has any control over what happens with the politispergs is you.

I know Ride is a decent guy from his actions I personally know of X time ago. I know nothing of him before or since, but I will remember what he did for a particular member.

I didn't go along with the Ride conspiracy. The original reasoning for the ban didn't make sense to anyone that's been here for a bit. If anything, I thought it might have been bait to get people banned for filling the board with disjointed Biden posts ala CatParty. I've watched staff collapse over the years and purposely sabotage their own position. It comes with the territory.

That being said, I don't take it too personally when people come up with wild conspiracy theories here because KiwiFarms has been the source of more real conspiracies than I've seen anywhere else. Vordrak, constant DDoS, being dropped from hosts, being dropped from payment processors, being dropped from fundraising platforms, constant frivelous lawsuits, news organizations running lies about you and the boards, your own family being attacked to the point where you had to reorganize your life to continue supporting the website, etc. You are the most conspired against man I've probably ever met on the internet or in real life.

You're justified in being as annoyed as you want at the politispergs, but in this instance, defending the original message as being clear and concise is arguably wrong. As a direct result of that, a handful of retards let their imaginations run wild. This isn't anything new or weird from any board. I've never been a mod nor would I ever be, but I just cannot understand how you hold such a grudge with A&N when the only thing that makes it unique is that it's almost exclusively about politics. Maybe you feel like we're hijacking the website or something, I don't know. I do know that the vast majority of us do everything in our power to keep you away from the board so we can isolate ourselves and not have the board up for deletion every other week.

He definitely has political opinions. He's made his fair share of posts in the politisperg threads during major happenings and has even changed the board's theme multiple times to reflect that. His beef seems to be more with the community than the subject matter. I can't speak for him though.

I am not going to speak for him either because actions speak louder than words.

However, I am eternally grateful for this site because it showed the true inhumanity and doublethink surrounding the 2020 riots. Footage shown here in real time was actively censored and downplayed. I personally had a family member involved in one of the riots broadcast here and it was horrifying to watch in real time because I knew where they lived and what they were going to do. But if you asked some average person, they would have been like nothing happened and worship bbc and woke white commie fags.

Ride is a solid dude and whether or not this particular decision was fantastic, I seriously doubt it was motivated by malice. Also as to the "slow" thing, I believe he was actually saying the extreme length of the thread made even routine mod actions like merging doubleposts slow. Not that the thread itself wasn't active.

Yeah this sperging over the threadlock is stupid. I do wish it could have been handled differently however. @Null I unironically love this board while acknowledging it's flaws. It is one giant board of shit and low effort posters that contribute next to nothing to the discussion.

However: There is real content to be had here, and real value to be gained from the topics. I know you generally avoid the board but if you talk to anyone here who isn't annoying they'll tell you that the news aggregation and genuine insights to be had on political affairs is 2nd to no other site.

The board has some hug box shit going on that frankly I don't like, but the usual suspects on both sides are part of the reason for that. Making a board like this less shitty and annoying to the average non-politisperg requires some genuine curating that I think was lost with HK and a replacement for him should really be found if possible.

I actually looked at CTR at the time to see if there was any real money and it was some sad 50 Cent Army wumao level shit, so I quit shitposting in /pol/ because I didn't want to do it for free when it was obvious they were astroturfing the shit out of the board.
