I gonna play the devil's advocate here but I'm just gonna say that for a troon, their work as Rosmontis is decent enough for me to set it as my current voice. As far as I see it, they were told to try matching it like the JP and did a decent work at it, at best.

And considering that most of the time the EN dub has been fairly good if not decent due to effort of getting VA outside of union (thanks SAG AFTRA), them hiring one troon for what, 1 character can be seen as a rather small blip of drama to worth mulling over.

That said, the current EN VA batch with this does have fair share of issue, like the operator Scene's EN voice somehow lacks the distinct robot voice that made it clear most of the lines are from her robots and not herself or how they decided to hire a non-spanish speaking VA for Weedy EN dub despite being on the same Iberian region like say, Thorns or Elysium or Rose Salt.

Still, you can just switch em if its the issue, not exactly game breaking.

It's still depend on Hypergriph themselves, but so long that the troon doesn't cause further issue or backlash down the line, I don't think HG would even care about changing it unless said troon did something truly heinous and career-ruining or the troon themselves decided to quit.

Troon Hatred aside it’s more so the fact these “content creators” organised this entire campaign and got someone cancelled for no-no speak, while Yostar simultaneously never acknowledged any of the recent game issues stemming from their actively declining management.

It’s a slippery slope of enabling harassment campaigning, and since BloopAK (accused of abusing another CC while being brought onto official sponsored projects like Bingo Lockout) hasn’t equally been cancelled off the face of the universe it’s clear they only bothered cancelling ZET because he said tranny bad.

(There’s also the lack of self-awareness from some of these CCs. I can’t imagine why constantly feeding drama would be a dealbreaker for a corpo, regardless of which side you were batting for. Rorii even made a followup post complaining he was only visible as a single frame smear in the video and that he wasn’t going to support the game going forward if that’s all he got “after all my [sic] efforts”.)
The only pro I feel AK’s EN VA choices has is they do pick some relatively unknown VAs alongside the usual suspects. Adding some new blood to the industry is fine I guess but EN VAing is so heavily infested with queer crap that it’s also a double-edged sword…

Performance-wise I just feel they aren’t as good on average as the other languages. I agree they do miss some rather importsnt stuff like Scene’s character/robot distinction that the other languages remembered to do. Maybe it’s a side-effect of trying lesser known/newcomer VAs, but who knows.

What are your thoughts on region-specific voicelines like Spanish for Rose Salt? Except for the Sui siblings’ dialect (which IIRC shares their CN VA) I felt they’re also quite hit or miss. If it weren’t only a small handful of characters getting them I’d probably be more negative about it.

There’s exactly one thing no one will ever be able to change my mind about: I HATE that they actively changed the translations of certain character’s voicelines to match the EN VA specifically though. Example: If you only consume EN, the lyrics to Eyja Alter’s songs in her skin got heavily truncated compared to the other languages like JP or CN.

They also changed Bagpipe’s voiceline translations from perfectly legible English to ‘Scottish’, which I feel hurts the legibility in an already text heavy “mobile” game like Arknights. It’s like how they tried spacing out Shaw’s words then decided to change it back because “character reasons”.

They need to make up their mind, especially with Endfield dropping next week.

EN VA stuff
For Scene, I hazard a guess that they just want to finish it since she's on the very last EN VA batch of the legacy operators (meaning that the next one starting with Ato event is new operators only), so the possibility of being sloppy is up there, especially since the rest aren't necessarily bad (and they still able to get JP seiyuu to do EN dub on JP Operator like Saga)

As for the region specific voicelines, the ones I used primarily are the Russian ones for the ursus school students primarily because of 1. I like them and 2. I HATE MONICA RIAL who voiced Absinthe in EN dub. The RU dub is fine on its own, and I also liked Zima because she nearly sounded the same like her JP voice and tone. Crownslayer does come with russian voice, but I liked her english more than the russian one.

The rest can be summed up as:
- Never used the regional CN (need space)
- Italian ones are pretty decent but I prefer EN dub for Texas/Texalter and Lappland/Lapplter.
- I gave Phantom his french voice for lulz
- The German ones are decent.
- Spanish one is also decent, but considering almost all of them actually sharing the same VA with their EN dub, I prefer to stick with EN instead. Plus Spanish Irene doesn't hit as much as English and JP Irene, so yeah

Sadly since I don't have Eyjalter and its skin, I can't really relate with your hatred with the text changes. I'm just wishing that they actually wrote the original language on what they said on EN dub when the dub uses their original language (example: Mlynar idle, la pluma's idle, Rose Salt's talk 2, etc) so I can get what they actually saying both in text and voice.

As for the rest:
- I like Bagpipe's scottish. She only kept it for anything except combat lines so it's not an issue
- Replacing YongYea would be ideal.

I'm surprised that there isn't a massive controversy yet. Usually with sequels you have a lot of people displeased.

There’s a pretty big one going on right now, but it has less to do with the game and more to do with Gryphline’s terrible management of payment systems. People who have already started swiping were getting overcharged exponentially. Looks like they were pretty quick to process refunds but there’s something funny about a gacha unintentionally(?) draining your bank account.

Gryphline? More like Griefline. That's overall small potatoes, whales gonna whale anyways.

I played up to the end of the first zone in Endfield and I won't spoil anything but the story is definitely not an Arknights story which is very disappointing, a lot of the cutscenes towards the tail end I couldn't even really believe that I was seeing shit like this in an Arknights game and I was so focused thinking about that rather than anything else actually happening in them. I don't really know if they can salvage the story since it feels like a lot of problems are core to the trying to get mass appeal thing but the rest of the game is really good at least.

I only played the OG for like 2 weeks, but the story in Endfield kinda sucks.

Honestly it was kinda missing that hook in the first game, in which Rhodes Island has to extract Doc from a city being burnt down by rioters. Also Endfields badguys are not as intrquinf; Reunions grunts fought for cause and their was plenty of Ringleaders to sympathize with. Meanwhile, the Landbreakers are just diet Borderlands bandits, unless the devs are implying that they used to be Endfield's corporate slaves...

I played the Endfield Beta II pretty extensively but stopped playing during the last few weeks of it to keep myself from getting burned out. Despite that, I can’t bring myself to play the actual release anymore. I actually like the factory stuff, but the combat, story, and setting is just so fucking boring. We provided feedback about this during the beta but they didn’t make any adjustments at all.

The factory looks more interesting that the actual gameplay. Just make a gacha centered around that.

I saw this video on Endfield, to anyone playing, can someone verify if any of this shit is true?

Fuck this shit.

This video is way too long but there's people that want the game to die because they added a dodge button to combat and there's way too much autism going on over this.

Game is fun, not perfect but I've had a pretty good time with it. A lot of the issues in terms of what people complain about with it being dumbed down are also yet to be seen as end game content will release over time and we'll see how it goes.

I think there's definitely a point of trying to pander to the average gacha fan in this game but I think the story suffered a lot and the gameplay suffered a little (so far from what I can tell after finishing the main story).

Hey guys the recent turkey tom allegations made me remember about yall
