I was raised Catholic, but I've been learning more about Eastern Orthodox Christianity and think I like that denomination more. There's a Catholic thread and a General Christianity thread if you want to learn more about either. The reason I am looking into Orthodoxy instead is because I think the Catholic Church has been compromised and I don't trust the Vatican, but I do think historical Catholic theologians were more based than modern Catholics.

Do you cult as in a compound where the leader has 7 wives or a fringe denomination?

I would advise against oversharing details of your experience in a cult, since it could leave you open to being identified and doxxed, especially if this cult was on the smaller side. Personally, I would have honestly just worded your original post as "I did not get the opportunity to learn much about Christianity growing up" and leave out anything about the cult entirely. This website has many enemies and also many deranged users. You can still edit or delete posts you made in this thread to remove details you included.

I’m aware of the risk I am taking but the truth needs to be spread

technically I'm baptized as such but was raised mostly episcopalian
these days I accept Christ's sacrifice for my sins but I'm pretty AGAINST YOUR THOUGHT about organized church at large
I tend to avoid them out of courtesy so I don't start looking for tables to flip and bitches to whip

if I did regular services I'd want some serious business incense and ancient jibberjabber shits

My family is Roman Catholic and gaga over THE Pope John Paul II. No other Pope compares in their eyes. I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that he was Polish and we aren't that many generations removed from Ze Olde Country.

I don't practice any religion in general and didn't complete all the sacraments. My mom always told me that the Church was the people and you did not need to go to church for God to hear you. She didn't join another parish until towards the end of her life. But she still said her rosary and novena before that. When I was a kid I sometimes went with my grandmother to church on Saturday evenings because my grandfather wouldn't go. Sometimes it was the Polish service and I couldn't understand a thing. There are still a few oldsters in my family that can speak it. It got lost in recent generations.

No, as per my title.
Last time I wandered to a church (to hear an organ concert), there were some youth members handing out leaflets to people passing by and asked people about faith. When I looked their direction, the girl made face like ''oh f----!!!!'' midsentence and backed off. The same thing happened with a local communist fiend before elections.
Seems like I somehow repel any kind of faith. Don't know why. I don't have any physical deformity and I was feeling all positive, even.
