I've had this thought percolating for a while now. I was at a lake and I saw two male ducks swimming together and it made me smile, but then I remembered all those articles that try to project homosexuality onto animals to normalize it, and it occurred to me that a non-negligible chunk of the population would look at those ducks and do the same thing. Or the bodies at Pompei. Last year I saw a movie called Monster that seems to be about friendship until in the last twenty minutes they trojan horse gay romance into it. It's like the left can't see male platonic friendship without projecting homosexuality onto it. Then it occurred to me that I've seen this behavior before, in fujoshis, with shipping.

So then I started looking at other aspects of "sexual liberation" through this lense and it kind of checks out. Homosexuality, miscegenation, sex work, polyamory, promiscuity, incest, pedophilia, zoophilia -- it's all just an inability to look at people or relationships without sexualizing them. Even trannidom is just the "fem!Whoever" tag from ao3 and tumblr.

Are they really just pornsick? Is that why sex is literally the only topic they're pro-individual-liberty on, while being staunchly authoritarian collectivist on everything else?

This is actually a pretty interesting thought. Kind of Freudian which I usually don't like but I think there is something to it.

I would point to liberals emerging out of Merchants, but this provides an interesting theory about the specific way their minds work. That they can't separate sexual desire from wholesome things.

Could be a deep thoughts thread tbh. I expect shitposting in the Q/A section didn't expect something like this.
