Are jews white?

They're part of the Semetic race, which is largely extinct due to a variety of reasons, mostly the slow colonization of the Middle East by various other races starting as far back as the Greeks under Alexander and eventually culminating with the Arabs relatively recently. They have a distinct ethnic identity from Indo-Europeans. Its debated how distinct the Semetic identity is from that or Arabs, particularly by the Jews themselves who obviously don't want to be associated with Arabs though Arabic is considered to be part of the Semetic language family. They definitely have more in common with the Arabs than they do Europeans.

Short answer is: No. They're closer to Arabs.

Not applicable to all Jews cuz apparently Ethiopian Jews are a thing, but I've met plenty of Ashkenazi far paler than me, and my complexion is decidedly... Irish. So yeah, Askhenazi Jews are, at the very least, white.

...unless they need to claim minority status to win a debate, of course. It's often very circumstantial for them.

To be white, besides the genetic heritage, you first have to have a desire to belong under the large white(ness) umbrella.
Most peoples and tribes that make up whites are generally OK with it, from Slavs, to Italians, to Irish, to Anglos, to Spaniards.
Now ask Jews, through polls, if they accept that they are European White people, and return with the results.
A desire to reject whiteness makes you sus even if your skin is white. The skin is just the superficial attribute of something else, something much deeper.
