Rather than getting a hardcase that will insulate it from thermal exchange, why not just get a zip up laptop sleeve that will protect it from things rattling around in your purse but be fully functional when taken out?
I’d be interested in the AirPods Max if they had better dynamic range. I have AudioTechnicas that absolutely murder the sound quality of the Max and cost a lot less.
Unlike a phone, you usually don’t carry a laptop while using it, so I think a case and screen protector is unnecessary.
Apple factory refurbs are the best way to go. 30% cheaper for the same machines with a full warranty is a no-brainer.
Dump your pictures/videos to a computer, tidy up and delete anything you don't want for life, and I'd say for 9/10 people, that's the only thing you'll miss. Youtube will still be there.
I've got plenty of storage, but what's irking me is that lightroom on android lacks features (duh) compared to its standalone version, so having a nifty and light laptop thats capable of starting up quickly and producing something.
Why not start with the iPad? If you’re going to be using it professionally get an Air (or Pro if you can justify it) and the Apple Pencil. Photoshop and Lightroom for iPadOS are much closer to their desktop counterparts than they are to the iOS version. If you’re set on starting with a phone then go for it.
An iPad Pro with the Pencil is an amazing tool, and adding a decent keyboard case can even work as a laptop replacement quite well. Considering the ways you can use an iPad in conjunction with a Mac, it would open up some real workflow benefits for anyone using Lightroom.
Its just an idea conjured today by me. Im still doing my own research and mental justifications for moving eco systems.

I ended up going for the 13” with the keyboard case and, while expensive, it’s a joy to use. If my MBP didn’t have 64GB memory and get used for AI experiments I’d have already sold it.
In my last role, I found I was able to do 99% of my work without compromise on my 13-inch M4, which was great in the field as my MBP is the 16-inch M2Pro, not something I want to lug around client sites even if I didn’t have back problems. Then when I’m back at my desk, the iPad Pro serves as an extra display or input tablet. It was one of those “I never realized how well this could work until I tried it” situations.
You may be shocked to find out that you can very easily change that to whatever folder you want in the settings for the screenshot utility.I put off downloading the new MacOS update because 1: i hate automatic updates and 2: the updates are always broken in some manner. Either way: it force downloaded overnight!
Now, with the new update, apparently all of my goddamned screenshots go directly into the iCloud and i guess i dont get a choice in this manner (despite having turned off icloud whenever and where ever possible)
