I haven’t seen any of the SGU stuff, but the episode you just described? That sounds exactly like some Torchwood-ass plotline. (And then RTD would act surprised Pikachu. “What, nobody finds our interstellar rape funny?”)
this isn't just one episode, this happens in just about all of them throughout its two seasons. they body swap with someone, go home to their spouse and convince them "it's me baby" then they fuck with their rental cock/pussy and there's no repercussions from that. it's absurd.

I have wiped most of SGU from my mind and remember it ending well. I think that has to do with them removing every unlikeable person from the cast and making it only about Eli. I also stopped watching SG1 when they cucked Daniel again late series. I may be a Jonas diehard but it really has no place in a stargate show.

good thing trannys were not as much of a popular thing. Could you imagine a troon body swapping with a true and honest woman?

It's Amazon, so the chance of suck is very very high.
There is no way SG-1 can be done in "the current year". But even if it could be done well the question stands as to "why" it needs to be done in the first place. The original SG-1 went for 10 seasons and told its story fine. There is no need to redo it.

And Billy Murray was right: no one wants husks of beloved characters selling an inferior version of they loved. I do not want grandma sam telling us how awesome the new girl bosses are and they just all happen to be lesbians.

edit: rework some stuff, lack of sleep fun.

To me, the problem is that Earth’s technological power level at this point makes a Stargate continuation basically Star Trek. The guns and a bit of scavenged tech vs. aliens bit is what makes the SG1 premise work best.

They tried to fix this with overpowered Ori to make Earth an underdog again, but it didn’t really work the same. They also suffered from the lack of RDA in a main role and they don’t really build new TV stars like that anymore.

I dunno, it’s not impossible for a new show to work but it’s hard and I don’t have any faith in Amazon.

Maybe they'll just come up with a new Atlantis gimmick. For whatever highly valuable reason, send people on a supposed one way trip to a different galaxy again.

This didn't bother me so much as that first season was some CW teen-romance-love-triangle low budget show. It also didn't help that as stated above they made the characters so unlikeable that you didn't really root for anyone except maybe Eli in that first season.

This is mostly fixed by the second season, but the dip shits already had killed the show at that point. I do feel there are episodes in the second that do go up against the best episodes in SG1 and Atlantis but they still shouldn't have cancelled Atlantis for Universe.

I think they could do another series, but Amazon would fuck it up just like they did LOTR.

I mean they could do a continuation. Where instead of the government working in the shadows everything comes out and all of society has to deal with

1. Aliens are real and the government has known for awhile now
2. Oh yeah, and we are going to build a space navy now.

How does the international system function in this new paradigm? Russia and China are aware of the situation and even got there hands on the tech too. A new Arms race seems inevitable, as the major nations of the world start scrambling to build their space forces, followed by a land grab of nearby habitable planets to set up new colonies.

This could be a FASCINATING scenario that hasn't really been played with before. Almost ALL modern SciFi assumes "Earth under one world government" as a precondition for the sci fi future of interstellar travel.

Interstellar Travel becoming a thing, along with space warships and wat not with the current international system still in place would be a new take on the genre that could be really cool to explore. The enemy would be less the evil aliens and more "ourselves". How does America handle a situation in which its enemies now have even bigger planet destroying weapons, and the entire galaxy is opening up for colonization and exploration by America's rivals.

In the hands of a competent team, this sort of continuation of SG-1 would be cool.

Unfortunately it's in Amazon's hands, so we will probably get a hard or soft reboot, with more girl bosses and based black men.

What is there even left to do? The Goa'uld, Replicators, Ori, and Wraith have all been taken care of.

I'm not optimistic but as long as the viewer self insert isn't wearing a fucking YOU ARE HERE shirt that the producers were so embarassed by it gets photoshopped in promos /thumbnails to be blue only to bamboozle me that Eli is still wearing that stupid fucking shirt every episode then it'll rank higher than Universe for me at the very least.

Also give me a old man Colonel Mitchell cameo i miss him, and don't let Michael Shanks huff his own farts too much if he shows up again. I used to really like Daniel but now that it's been a couple years since I finished all the series, the ego and hard to work with statements kinda soured my enjoyment of his character

All I am saying is if the former Goa'uld slave worlds truly deserved their land they would have done something more with it. Its okay though, America is coming to civilize the place.

Plus we have to get it before the damn dirty chinks do.
Well, the Jaffa council was bound to fall apart even before the Ori Invasion. They're a bunch of bronze age peasants trying to run an interstellar civilization. Democracy isn't going to fix their problems.

The Lucian Alliance would fully conquer major parts of the jaffa population and turn them back into slaves. I am fully expecting space wakanda in the new series and somehow the jaffa will be more advanced than Earth.

The Lucian Alliance would be driven out of business when Monsanto muscles them out of the Kassa trade.
