On multiple occasions the Atlantis team could have prevented the bad thing from happening by simply waiting for Away Team A to return before sending out Away Team B.

Even a simple radio contact would have prevented aggro and saved lives.
 
SG1 was such a great show, even the last couple seasons (easily the worst of them) are still light years above most shows of that era, and even today. It had the perfect mix of story of the week, and an overall story arc that advanced as needed to keep the show moving.

About the only other show that does that trick as well was DS9, with Babylon 5 being a not so distant 3rd.

farscape is great, definitely more lore-dense than SG and it's way crazier. mostly good all the way through but there are a few episodes that are a slog to get through
i've seen just about every 90s/00s scifi there is, started with lexx, then stargate, farscape, andromeda, bsg, b5, red dwarf, reboot, sliders, they're all pretty good. lexx is still my favorite because of how crazy it is.

You mean you don't like Keller turning into a hive ship, or replicator weir coming back as the 3rd actress to play her, or have Bill Nye and Neil DeGrasse Tyson solve global warming? At least Tayla found her baby.

Earlier I played Stargate Pluto TV while testing a new OS install, caught the end of The Sentinel:
"This episode also marked what I believe was the first appearance of the wonderful Christina Cox who would later return to the franchise to play the part of Major Anne Teldy in SGA's 'Whispers.'" (Writer/producer Joseph Mallozzi, in a post at his blog)

[Editor's Note: Cox's first role on Stargate was under prosthetics as the alien T'akaya in Season Two's "Spirits."]
The amount of actor reuse in the Stargate franchise is craaazy.

I just checked in to see where you were.

Season 7 is special for me because that's about when I started watching new episodes weekly when it aired.
