Exthuthe me, but the pollth ith miththing the betht thtargate, which was obviouthly Thtargate Infinitiy .

Years ago I got stuck house sitting for a few months, waiting on some legal stuff to clear so the owner could sell it, no cable, and only a few DVD's. One of which was my complete SG-1 collection. So I watched it. Then watched it again. Then watched it with commentary. Then watched it en espanol. I liked the early seasons the best. The show lost some of it's charm when Sci-Fi took over. I think they shat themselves with moebius, it was a terrible time travel episode. 9 and 10 had a handfull of good episodes, the second half of 10 you could tell the writers knew it wasn't getting renewed. I swear that episode where Teal'c goes off the reservation was a script they had from the first SHO season they they just couldn't get greenlit. The grenade in the jaffa's goa'uld pouch was pretty first season brutal.

My dad had a massive mancrush on O'Neil, and watched the show pretty devotedly while it was still on SciFi Fridays on FOX. O'Neil really made that show, he was blunt and funny and always said what he was thinking. He was willing to admit he was science illiterate and didn't care about being politically correct. It was kind of like a kinder, gentler, Archie Bunker in space.

I was raised on Stargate by my mother. She was a big 90s sci fi fan and she got me hooked on the genre with this and X-files so yeah I love the show. Its never reached the peak of my favourite sci fi but it also didnt crash and fucking burn like Battlestar Galactica did in its last moments. I've always had a soft spot for Atlantis over SG-1 even though I can admit SG-1 was the superior show. I loved the backdrop of the city, the tone of the first season (we're lost in a far away galaxy and shits fucked yo), McKay/Sheppard arguing, spooky space vampires and Ronans giant .44 Laser Magnum.

Universe sucked, at least the episodes I watched before I tuned out sucked.

I'm not a massive Atlantis fan, but you're right. The set was really nice. Atlantis has cool music as well.

I'm bumping this thread since they've released a remastered version of Stargate SG-1 on blu-ray last month and apparently they've done a shitty job. Someone thought that it was a great idea to apply noise reduction, making every actor look like wax figures.
Gateworld has an article about it:

Also a comparison of the official Blu-ray version and the AI upscale in 4K:

Stargate was the scifi show I grew up on (rather than the usual Star Gate or Star Trek) and it was kickass. I'm pretty happy it died before it reached modern day and got corrupted like everything else.

I am rewatching this series for the first time as a adult. The last time I saw it was on television when I was a retarded twenty-something.

I really like it. There's a lot of cool gadgets and scenarios. How does the show hold up season-to-season?

Pretty well until you get Farscape actors. Then the show gets a serious case of "find the MacGuffin." Still, the 200th episode is quite possibly the greatest episode to ever exist in the history of science fiction.

Idk if Julia Benson was in Farscape, but..
