What games did you get? I never get the scarcity with Nintendo games. Example: Wii Sports can be worth $15-20, disc only. And that's a game that came with every Wii since launch.
I bought a whole bunch of games, but as examples I got Prey for 5 dollars and Dragon Quest Builders for 10. The price Nintendo fans are willing to pay is absurd. I can't find Planet Robobot under 30.

I've actually gotten real into my hobbies again, so I may not get much if anything. The thing is, I feel way more motivated when I'm home. Have tons of games to finish, too. But stuff that's at least 75% off I could consider includes:

STALKER
Alien Isolation
- Have not played much horror, find it very stressful, but I feel like this would be perfectly fine as easing into it. (Zombies don't count as horror.)

Firewatch
- I don't play walking simulators but this is one of the most celebrated games on Steam.

Steel Division 2
- Got Wargame Red Dragon, can kind of play it but it's tough as shit. Read that SD2 has tons of BASIC quality of life things, like marking the fucking fog of war, so it's a lot more playable. Also less chaotic in general? Wargame is very imposing.

Days Gone
- Was only ever very mildly interested, but recently was surprised to see how well-regarded it is, people saying it had a top-notch story.

Weird West
- I wish there was more historical Western stuff, but I do have an interest in Deadlands' setting which this looks to be derivative of.

Mafia trilogy
- Loved Mafia 3, hated Mafia 2 but am willing to retry, love the idea of Mafia 1's remake.

Abandon Ship
- Ship roguelike

Rome 2 Total War
- I'm iffy about more R2TW. I've got several Total War games, I like Empire and Shogun 2, but I can't wrap my head around Attila. I feel like Rome 2 might be a better thing to start with than Attila, though Attila is way more interesting. It does have a lot of good Diadochi and Punic Wars history.

Alekhine's Gun
- Hitman in Cold War. Terrible reputation but also the cheapest thing on the list.

Sherlock Holmes Chapter One
- Received pretty well

Skyrim
- Combat looks retarded but more about the world. I never played Skyrim, I had a copy on XBox 360 I bought used and it seemed like it was just fucked up graphically, I got bored, and I never touched it again.

Rebuying some old stuff I had on PS4

I’ve been enjoying a city builder called Against the Storm which has roguelike elements. Unlike other city builders your towns are temporary settlements that put less emphasis on self-sufficiency and instead are more about quickly gathering and trading certain resources to reach milestones and complete various orders. You get blueprints for buildings on a draft pick system instead of just crafting the same things from the same buildings every time and you can also pick 3 of 5 different fantasy races that all excel in different things to embark with every time.

It’s a pretty fresh take on the genre if you like those type of games.

My folks got me a new mouse, which is lovely enough I'm willing to break my "no wireless" rule. Got myself Prodeus and The Last Faith, looking forward to those when I have time to play them.

Firewatch
- I don't play walking simulators but this is one of the most celebrated games on Steam.
Once you finish the walking sim, check the credits for the special thanks.

I'm planning on buying a Steam gift card so I can purchase Ghostbusters: The Video Game Remastered for my new Steam Deck along with a bunch of other useful accessories for it like an actual damn keyboard and mouse.
By the way, there's no co-op in the remastered version.

What's a rougelike game? Is it a mix of survival and RPG?
Procedural generated levels and nothing carries over between runs. Though in against the storm's case that's not completely the case so its really more of a roguelite. If you're new to the genre I would watch some gameplay first before jumping into it.

Yes, it's obviously "American consumerism" when elves
elves are anti-Russian bots
at the north pole
North Pole wasn't discovered by Russians
program a game
Video games weren't invented by Russians
and Santa Claus
Satan Claus isn't Russian
SMTP, IMAP and POP weren't made by Russians
you the steam code,
Steam is American
Arabic numbers aren't Russian

Economy isn't Russian
and culture
It's КУЛЬТУРА, capitalist kiwi

Meatbro upgraded to whatever the Primo new Xbox is, and gave me the one he got like a year ago.

I've long been skeptical of games-as-service, but GamePass will be nice for trying new games without dropping $30-60.

I picked up a few things including Death Must Die. It's a Vampire Survivors type game (I dunno what those are called) but your meta progression is Diablo style gear you keep after runs and the boons are similar to Hades. It's pretty ok but very content lacking. I cleared the highest difficulty in an afternoon once I got an understanding of how to control your boon rolls. The clear meta winner is picking the sorceress with the infinite pull base perk, getting some kind of attack projectile split, and stacking on hit effects, especially anything from the time god, the death god, and the lightning god. You can zip from shrine to shrine killing shit off screen and vacuuming all the xp.

I actually made myself remove some things from my wishlist, and also reason: is there a point in getting this. Like, if I have a huge bloated open world game sitting untouched, don't go get another, you know? And don't rebuy games I own for PS4, as I decided I may get my PS4 repaired (if that's possible). I need to play Yakuza 0 at some point and get it off my list. I kind of prefer linear games nowadays because I can't just play and beat the fucking thing.

At the moment what I'm actually leaning towards is Rome 2, Steel Division 2, and maybe some cheap ass games that aren't on great sales (<75%) but are cheap. The appeal of Rome 2 and Steel Division 2 is that I have games that are basically the same shit (Atilla and Wargame: Red Dragon), but are way more complicated to the point that I can't really enjoy them, and people say those are much simpler introductions to it.

And Rome 2 whores its DLC badly, but its kind of nice in a way because it looks like basically every DLC faction is some obscure dead culture I don't know about or give a fuck about, so it's quite optional. SD2, on the other hand, is a lot more overwhelming with the DLC whoring.

Alternatively, some of the cheap shit I've got listed is:
Stronghold Crusader - Never played any of these. Looks like ass nowadays. I like the idea of classic RTS but with twists on the formula and being based around sieges is one way of doing that.

Fire and Maneuver - Part of me just wants, even if it's shitty, to play as Confederates matched up against random European great powers.

Hatred - My name is Not Important

Delta-v: Rings of Saturn - Autism space mining game for people that read about real rockets

Cossacks 3 - Sounds like what Age of Empires III should have been

Edit: I bought Rome 2 with no DLC, Delta-v, Fish Simulator.

So I decided to get Drainus, a game heavily influenced by R-Type, but without the bio weapon aesthetic. It does its job well enough, but dying is enough of a problem that it's actually better to reset the level because you don't get powerups to compensate for dying in a Shoot 'em up. Also, you can pause the game to swap out upgrades and upgrade during levels, which while useful, I question why this idea was implemented in the first place. I did feel the need to grind though, which I could do with redoing stages.

Mostly good game, would recommend.

Also got Persona 4... and it's a link between 3 and 5 for sure showing linear improvement as the series went on. 4 wanted to have the aesthetic of 5, but was limited by the hardware limitations of the time, so it effectively had 3's graphics and animation. I haven't finished, but this game does have the best explanation for why we have magical teenagers in this series.

I ended up getting a fair amount of shit for Christmas.
  • A "high-end" gaming laptop I bought during Best Buy's Black Friday sale. I worked out a deal with my folks where they'd pay for it now and I'd pay it back over time (because I'm iffy on using in-store payment plans or services like Klarna or Affirm) but I woke up on Christmas morning to text from my folks saying "check your mailbox for a nice surprise". Inside my mailbox was a small gift bag with a Christmas card and a printout of the order the laptop was in and the phrases "paid in full" and Merry Xmas" written in black Sharpie).
  • A $100 Visa gift card It was in the same gift bag that the Christmas card and the printout was, my folks always believed that you should at least get something on Christmas Day.
  • Around $200 in cash from friends and relatives.
  • Some assorted knick-knacks.
After that I ended up getting...
  • A pair of Nintendo Switch Game Vouchers which were then used to buy Super Mario RPG and Super Mario Wonder. I tried to use the Visa gift card to make the purchase but the card was declined.
  • I bought out my Steam wishlist (consisting of the Sonic Generations bundle, the Sonic and All Stars Racing Transformed bundle, and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart) since it was somewhat cheap thanks to the Steam Winter Sale, I also picked up Sonic Frontiers since it was 60% off. Unlike my attempts of using it on the Nintendo eShop, the Visa gift card was actually accepted by Steam.
  • I also picked up KH 1.5+2.5 and KH3+ReMind off of the Epic Store, I had enough money on the gift card to buy 'em after their winter sale applied a 60% discount on both titles and an additional 33% off via a one-time coupon. Upon retrospect I should've added KH 2.8 to my Epic Store purchase, I haven't played that game in a while and it was only 16 bucks after discounts.

Shadow Empire*
Dominions 5
Prodeus
Quasimorph
Space Warlord Organ Trading Simulator
Signalis
Underrail
Fear & Hunger
World of Horror

Shadow Empire might be the greatest game I have ever played.
