The only reason people conceive of Anthony as a musical polymath is because they themselves have little to no acquaintance with the genres he reviews. As an avid death metal listener this was mostly a generalized, stock, paint-by-numbers rendering of the genre that contributes little in terms of either knowledge or insight.
I mean, I know Anthony looks like a total fag but do you really look at him and think he's a death metal fan?
No offense meant.. sirfaggot. He just looks like a poser no matter what genre he's currently claiming to like.

I can't stand listening to him describe music because it makes it so obvious he has such a superficial appreciation of it. He doesn't understand theory, he doesn't understand instruments (beyond his dilettantish bass playing), he doesn't understand writing, he doesn't understand arranging, he doesn't understand recording, he doesn't understand mixing.

He can't ever say anything interesting or substantive because he's completely ignorant of every single step in the process.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but hasn't by and large stopped doing metal reviews and videos when it got pointed out most of his takes were /mu/ core?

tf is wrong with blood incantation?
He looks like a blood incantation fan
Nothing is wrong with Blood Incantation per say, it's just that a certain intelligentsia of indie magazine reviewers have over exaggerated the supposedly innovative nature of their catalogue to a near-laughable extent, and the band have acquired an unearned aura of critical unimpeachability as a result. I sincerely believe their popularity is deserved, and am a big fan of starspawn and "Hidden", but "Absolute Elsewhere" was A) overrated to high heaven and B) not *that* groundbreaking of an album when records like "Hail Horror Hail"... exist. Frankly the riffage in that piece was quite disappointing when compared to the band's previous installments, and it seemed like both sides of the death metal/psychedelic fusion at the album's core were a bit.. limp? Half-assed is too strong of a term. A lot of the metal fans I talk to think they're a good death metal band that is routinely made out to be the best ever by people who aren't as well-acquainted with extreme music.

He hid behind a black lady and had her review Ulcerate's latest album (Cutting the throat of God - highly recommend btw) on his behalf, so I guess?

Fantano has a spergout over a "white guilt" line targeted at kendrick and his fans in one of drake's songs, seems to have hit too close to home.

I don't think young white kids are listening to Kendrick out of white guilt no, I do know for a fact that white leftist reviewers like Fantano and Pitchfork will glaze the ever loving shit out of black artists that often times are just okay because of white guilt and feeling the need to uplift blacks. Also the fear of being cancelled for reviewing them poorly because that's racism. Please keep in mind Fantano has been dragged on twitter quite a few times by black artists who either were reviewed poorly or simply said "You white you can't be reviewing our music nigga!"

Is Drake wrong though? Every white kid who likes Kendrick never talks about enjoying it. They talk about "lyricism" and "how important" he is, but never talk about their enjoyment.
