A recent thread on here made me curious and I spent a few minutes looking at publically available data on sites that estimate traffic like
https://www.websiteiq.com/domain/compoundmedia.com/ and
https://www.similarweb.com/website/compoundmedia.com and both of these sites would seem to give a ballpark figure of about
400,000 visits per month with an average of about 3 pageviews per visit so a total of about 1.2 million hits a month.
Of course, these numbers are often inflated with bogus traffic or inaccurate analytics and according to what I've read online in various places these numbers can be inflated by up to 300%. There is some reason to think the numbers are being juked for compound based on
where the traffic is coming from as it looks like something like 3% of that figure is from Vietnam which has increased 170% in the last month so there is very likely some phone farm clicks propping that number up.
Also, in the first screenshot about you should note that the average time on the site is just over 2 minutes which, for a video platform, is shit and points to the bulk of the traffic being either fake traffic or people just coming across the website who are not subscribers and then dipping the fuck out immediately.
Giving Anthony the absolute benefit of the doubt, 2 minutes x 1.2 million pageviews per month is 2.4 million minutes of potential watch time. I'd say that number can easily be halved because not everyone visiting is watching video. We are also assuming that a lot of that short-term visiting is from fake traffic that Keith or whomever is buying to prop up the site so that's also baked into me removing half the potential watch time. So let's say about 1.2 million minutes per month are watched. Assuming the average subscriber watches an hour a day for 30 days would mean that an average sub watched 1800 minutes per month. 1.2 mil / 1800 = 666.666 repeating subscribers. Fawk yeah! That's like $6,000 a month if each sub is paying 9 bucks.
Now, it is totally possible that I am missing something here and I think that it is likely that maybe the average sub only watches an average of 30 minutes a day for 30 days which would put the number at more like 1200-1300 subs. There are various ways you can jigger the data and with smaller sites like compound, the traffic stats on these public websites might not be as accurate because compound has such a small sample size.
I just don't see how Anthony has any more than 2000 subs being super generous and assuming there are lots of subs that just quit watching but still pay. Thoughts? Again, this is back-of-napkin shit I'm going off here.
