I thought Private Parts was garbage. Humanizing shock jocks and treating them as visionaries who can See Through The Bullshit was a terrible cliche even by the late 90s. Yeah man, our modern prophets are guys asking various porno stars if they were molested as children. It felt like it was at least five years too late but the self-aggrandizement was intolerable, which is why the movie bombed. Nobody thought Howard was this great man, they just tuned in to laugh and then get on with their day. Just pure Generation X dumbfuckery where they thought the FCC and Jerry Falwell were just the worst, which aged like milk in the summer heat on September 11.

That’s the thing O&A had over Stern: even if they had Patrice bloviate about women, they never pretended that their primary mission wasn’t to make people laugh. Stern wanted to pretend to be the modern pied piper and intellectual and O&A wanted to tell dick jokes. O&A can often be cringe but I agree that O&A is aging better, relatively speaking.

Not to derail, but with Stern on the outs does that make Bennington the last show standing from the old guard at XM/SiriusXM? Or is that sad chapter in Ron’s career also getting dropped?

Ron is probably one of the few not a huge piece of shit people working there. Yes he was sneaky in stirring the pot on the Ron and Fez show but when fez was going through his shit he stayed with him until the end. Also it seems like he’s happy doing the show with his daughter. Also Earl truly is the cockroach of the radio world. He’ll always make it though hard times at Neeeewwwww.

Ron isn't senile, he intentionally fucks with people. You can see it all the way back to R&R days. Also, Earl rules.

I meant sneaky. Fucking auto correct man. And I know Ron would always fuck with people but he never took it to fucked up heights O&A or Stern did. Also that Dana Plato interview Stern did was really fucked up.

I forgot about that. The next time my old buddy tries to tell me Howard was a great interviewer, I'll bring that one up.

Private Parts isn't a bad film by any means. The issue is it hasn't aged well given that Howard hasn't. We now know who the real Howard Stern is, if it was about anyone else other than him the film would still work. The film is a classic tale of humanizing this larger than life celebrity figure, telling stories of how they found themself and the kinds of adversity they faced as they worked their way to the top. He fights for those around him against what he perceives as wrongful censorship, and despite his radio personality being made out to be this disgusting pig we see that he is loving father in a happy marriage.

We also see things like him learning the boundaries between his personal life and the radio workspace. At the end of the day we see that this personality is just an entertainer, behind the scenes he is a normal guy who has a story we can all relate to. In real life however we have learned that Howard is a power hungry egomaniac who screwed over many around him while selling out when it became convenient. He was the definition of safe edgy. For all his posturing now about being a good human being deep down we know he is a creep like many other personalities who base themselves around being edgy.

In real life the happy family man actually had his family life deteriorate badly. He also never learned any serious boundaries about personal issues and the radio considering one of the reasons why he had the falling out with Jackie is because he forced Jackie to broadcast his marriage troubles on the air. He also paraded around Artie Lange and his degenerate behavior for years until it started to negatively impact him.

He also told quite a few lies in the film, like claiming Imus slammed the door in Stern's face when the reality was Imus was staying late and hanging out with Stern live on the fucking air. Imus wasn't a petty dictator like Stern was.

Hell, all Jackie wanted was a raise that matched how much work he did on the show, and Stern actively fought against anyone on his show getting a raise because it would cut in to his money. The sack of shit wouldn't have even noticed 100 grand missing from his giant contract, but jews gotta jew.

Meanwhile, O&A always went to bat to get their own guys raises.

Private Parts is perfectly fine. It was something funny I could watch in high school and get a good chuckle or two from. It has no real lasting legacy to it but it was fine for its time.

Anthony is going off on the male NFL cheerleader, which is kind of a bit too far (I'm personally very liberal and progressive). He's doing a very funny and original monologue about what it must've been like for the cheerleader to come out to his dad, and the level of detail and thought put into makes it sound like this was a conversation Anthony had at some point, its so weird.

His racism stuff I can tell comes purely from a place of hate in him, but anything he says on transgender or gay stuff has this weirdness to it, its very obvious he's projecting really bad. At some point he got really serious for a moment and mentioned how hard it was to come out of the closet

I felt the same when I listened to an old OA bit about how he felt weird buying designer underwear because of the male models they put on the packaging

It's up, skip to 7:55 to 12:35 for Anthony being audibly uncomfortable as he discusses gay sons and their fathers

He talks about how his dad was happy when Anthony came out to California and did cowboy and dated girls. Mother Fucker the two girls you had was Dream Weaver whom he mentioned who was a fat chick he met on CB, and they went on one date. Then there was Buzz who his father set him up with probably he thought Ant was a faggot for hanging out with that homo Richard. Add to that he played with puppets as a kid that his dad called his "Dolls" his old man spent Ant's children believing he was a fruit or at least hanged out in the orchard and given he fucked Sue Lightning dad was right.

Stern is on the verge of another half or more billion dollar contract with Sirius yet again.

He had sex with Sue Lightning. A literal boy. And bought the same boy breast implants. Do you really need Anthony to spell it out for you? To quote the high class Shakespearean intellectual Tony Soprano, "he's a faaaaaaag". Anthony was having sex with other guys as a teenager. Both he and Norton left O& and were immediately fagging out in the most embarrassing ways within weeks.

Have you been living under a rock? All the press is about his Sirius isn’t inclined to renew. Stern and his EP weren’t taking any calls about it but he found out from Jimmy Kimmel and said it was news to him. He’s never been more out of touch with the entire world.

Anthony is super proud that WABC asked him to front their new 15 minute podcast. He continues to act so smug you’d think he’d inherited the Tonight Show from Johnny Carson.

The guy spent the last decade blowing through is fortune as he became stuck in the gutter of irrelevance and dysfunction. Of course a basic professional gig with a paycheck is going to be a victory for him.

It is kind of weird how Anthony is reframing this since all his past California stores about living with his dad were portrayed as Anthony having a miserable time and his father being a dick because he didn't want to bear any of the responsibility that comes with kids living with you.
