Louis CK isn't getting some "divine justice" - he's just a wormy dude. The only reason this likely happened was because he started going after Ticketmaster and/or bothered some other vested interest. This is very clear tool that someone is using to make people go away. We don't need this level of nonsense in civilized society. This may also surprise you - but you're allowed to flirt, date, and fuck at work. You're allowed to have sex with your boss or his boss - people (including the women from the accusations) have free will and agency to make decisions and letting them change their mind two decades later is insane. You're allowed to have adult conversations with people.

Cancellation isn't "going away" - people have been dredged up for our Presidential Elections and Supreme Court hearings for the last thirty five years at least. It's here and it's going to stay for as long as it works.

I believe that specifically he was starting to work with venues to eliminate Ticketmaster from his shows by handling the booking directly. He was specifically doing shows at non Ticketmaster venues and charging non ticketmaster prices and very speficially calling them out for taking huge cuts of performer's profits for doing virtually nothing in 2012. He was getting a lot of traction and making a lot of money doing it this way for a few years and even spent some time convincing his touring comic friends to do the same and convincing some mid-sized venues to drop their Ticketmaster exclusivity. Then for no reason at all several women had a change of heart on sexual encounters with him and he was cancelled in a day.

He was (like most people who fuck with money) previously untouchable. He wasn't cancelled for using the Hard R on stage, he wasn't cancelled for clowning on Donald Rumsfeld to his face, or any of his other antics over a number of years.

Also you'll be shocked to learn that Ticketmaster has been handling his touring ticket sales after his "return" and every person that accused him was in the industry and could benefit from having a better relationship with the $20 Billion dollar a year Ticketmaster.

this list of venues are all massive theaters and arenas I'm pretty confident 90% of them minimum are ticketmaster venues. I'm past argument phase, even if what you were saying was 100% true I don't believe it's any more credible than just being an obvious target at the height of MeToo, but I'm genuinely curious if he was that aggressive about this stuff behind the scenes. The only reason why the tour is kicking off in Austin is because Joe Rogan lives there. He was still doing it in 2016 so he was doing it for 4 years straight at least, bagging them the whole time. He'd basically done a mini press tour about how smaller acts (comics, bands, events, etc) could just do the same thing themselves and cut out Ticketmaster and fuck over scalpers. Some of the O&A comics started taking the same approach (or at least said they did on air). He did some of the shows he had to do through Ticketmaster (like Madison Square Garden and the like). This for obvious reasons made Ticketmaster look really bad - they were less secure, more expensive, and provided a worse experience. While they likely don't care about Louis CK's money, it would be a critical level disaster if a big name (like Kanye or Taylor Swift) start exploring not using Ticketmaster; or god forbid Sporting Venues realize that they can just do their own ticketing.

Not long after, Louis CK was publicly shamed over the most milquetoast accusations ever and went into hiding for ~3 years and when he came back started using Ticketmaster and now tickets were $100 or more +$20 convince fees and business is going on as usual. I'm not sure if there was an "inciting event" that made someone scramble and find the "cancel" button - but he wouldn't be worth the effort otherwise.

He also did the same thing with his comedy specials around the same time - recording, producing, editing, and distributing them by himself through his website instead of cutting in Netflix and/or Comedy Central at the time. Several other comics also did this at the same time.

EDIT - also to shit on Jim Norton one more time, fucking Alan Alda has more of a spine and did a better job defending Louis CK.
