Considering that he only did 3 months and this was Boston, I'm inclined to agree with his version of events. I'm also somewhat convinced that he got screwed since no one has come out of the woodworks to tarnish Patrice's legacy. People tried to scalp Aziz Ansari, but not Patrice? It's not a hill I'm willing to die on but, given the circumstances, I don't think it's an unreasonable position.
There are a lot of differences between Patrice and guys like Aziz Ansari or other Metoo'ed comedians like Louis C.K. though. For as popular as Patrice was, he never did really break that far into the mainstream and achieve significant fame. Louis C.K. and Aziz Ansari were far more successful mainstream wise, with a lot of different projects ranging from T.V. shows to movies to much larger comedy specials. They received a lot of attention and positioning in the mainstream media, which made them targets and gave people the opportunity to have more of an impact by taking them down.

Patrice on the other hand was a relatively smaller figure in terms of fame. There is a chance that the girl involved in his rape case doesn't even know who he is or that he went on to have a career in comedy. He was also dead for six years by the team the MeToo movement rolled around, what standing and cultural impact he did have had already dissipated. Even people who are aware of Patrice may not even know about the story since it wasn't well publicized and was only talked about so many times by Patrice himself.

One more thing to add: people might not want to bring attention to it because Patrice was black and the girl was white. Whether he was the victim of a false accusation or not, people don't want to bring attention to a rape case where someone who was white was victimized by someone who was black.

I don't buy this at all because white women are more than happy to accuse black men. I've run into rape-happy feminists who refused to say that Emmett Till was innocent.

While I acknowledge the rest of your post and don't think you're necessarily wrong, I still disagree with it because I've seen small-timers get metoo'd and I've seen guys who've been dead for decades get metoo'd. These scumbags have zero shame and will do anything to collect a scalp and trade it in for fame. The fact that there's a story out there about some dead nigger who was put in jail for raping a bitch is enough for someone to glomp onto it for attention and, potentially, money.

Deep down, I think both Anthony and Opie know they wouldn't be as famous or rich without the other. Opie would be doing a Brother Wease/Elvis Duran clone in the NYC area or some Middle 50 market and Anthony would be a hilarious, creepy HVAC guy you kept your daughter as far away from as possible while doing parody songs for money with his brother on the side.

They struck gold finding each other even if they are loath to admit it.

Honestly the only reason I got into Opie and Anthony was because it more or less was the spiritual successor to Tough Crowd. Colin Quinn as a ringleader is top notch and I find myself going back to his appearances on O&A the most (him calling Vos "the spent jizz on Maimonides' inner thigh" makes me cackle to this day).

Colin's line about Ant being a back-alley Tunisian knife fighter is never far from my mind and it never fails to make me smile.

I get what you are saying. But the weaponization of sexual assault claims and cancellation doesn't have consistent rules. Some people get to avoid it, others don't. Aside from Patrice, why hasn't Jimmy been cancelled for all the shit he has done? You literally have him admitting to taking sexual advantage of a drunk chick at work. Who also possibly almost died from alcohol poising afterwards. Why isn't that story all over the press or have been used by one of his exes?

Years ago on YouTube I saw a clip from a Richard Pryor standup where he admitted to having sex with an underage girl. Why hasn't that clip blown up and Pryor been shamed for who he really was?

Going back into Louis C.K., the cancellation he faced in November of 2017 wasn't the first time those allegations were discussed. There had been long standing rumors about his behavior, some of which even get discussed in the press beforehand. Just a month before his cancellation there was an article written about them. While there hasn't been any concrete prove, there has been a lot of the speculation that the Seinfeld episode "The Stand In", the episode where Elaine dates a guy who "takes it out" while on a date with her, was based off what Louis C.K. was doing. That episode aired in February of 1994, a near 24-years before he would face actual cancellation over his behavior.

Years of rumors and media pieces written on them, but it wasn't until one article in particular that was published in November of 2017 that finally pushed things over the edge.

Patrice maybe one day will get cancelled for what he did. Who knows? But there are various reasons why it hasn't yet happened.

I feel like I am somewhat attuned to the comedy scene but I had never heard this one before. Any more details as to where this notion came from?

Genuinely interested.

Paul Mooney raped Pryor’s son when he was underaged and it only came up occasionally. Comedians are fucked up people.

I don’t think anyone gave a shit about Patrice in 2011 other than the roast. Far too many people assume he was going to blow up but that was unlikely. The New York Magazine article was spot on when they (and he himself admits it) said that he burned too many bridges. In a hypothetical scenario in 2017 when #MeToo was raging, Patrice would just get bit parts while having Black Philip and an Anthony and Patrice show on Compound Radio.

Remember when spotify was going to ban songs for misogny but then backtracked once they realized it would mainly effect niggers more? same reason. some woman going "this nigger raped me" will get less pushback than some woman going "indian man is indian" and beyond that Patrice was the Sparks of comedy, very few people knew who the fuck he was outside of other stand ups or obsessive fans but if they did they loved him and would defend him even if they caught him in the act of raping.

Like the fact every comedian knows what he went to prison for but they all sidestep it like politicians proves any attacks on that front would be useless, one guy on twitter said "norm isn't that funny" and is on year 8 of being fucked with, you really think any woman going "patrice raped me" wouldn't be in 24/7 jocktober the rest of her fucking life?
Mike Tyson and Kobe Bryant have supporters who can successfully pressure anyone who brings up their rape cases, saying it's "uncalled for," even though both cases were way more credible than what happened to Ansari.
its almost like America is obsessed with niggers.

Louis CK literally told stories of doing it on O&A, to the point there used to be a 10 hour compilation of him doing it.

Ant compares Opie to loveable Canadian retard, Frankie MacDonald.

i was literally just listening to the english gf saga speaking of bobo
just in case people searching later on, the chick that plays the English GF is the woman in glasses in this, this was about 2-ish years after but the earliest videos i've seen of her online. Just so people know what girl gave Bobo a boner and got hit on by Patrice.

i would question how bobo was able to get a rod off a carpenter's dream, but you could literally sneeze on bobo's mangled dick and hed get a rod

The famous "Up and Down Game" with Patrice in studio.

Patrice falling on the floor laughing from Opie's seat:

This was such a fun day. For all the shit we talk about the Opie & Anthony Show, stuff like this is why we all loved it.

A toxic stew that produced nuggets of 24 karat comedy gold
