Smoke detector chirps probably makes Anthony think of Patrice O'Neal thanks to his racist brain. But changing the batteries will break his racist heart. To be honest. I wouldn’t be shocked if Anthony was a little homo for Patrice.

LOS does at minimum deserve a thread. but you'd be better off just doing a gas digital one. the problem is they're a lot like Patrick Melton before Nick Rekeita befriended him, tons of lolcow events but such a huge backlog no one would bother clipping all of it. plus Dave Smith especially made sure to keep all his lolcow behavior off the podcasts, its all stories from other people about how he's a real ass dude.

i don't think its an act so much as a "radio persona" he was the destroyer after all. the king of shock jocks to the point stern had to nuke them off the air in the 2000s. O&A didn't become the comedy hang until they got on satellite. Opie made most of the segments before then.

Also just going by how many people still associate with him he;s obviously a lot more normal. IIRC even Patrice hung out with him after work more often than either Ant or jim.

Opie having a family and kids and being able to do double dates probably helped. no one wanted to interact with jim or ant outside the show

He has always treated YouTube this way. Even when the him and Anthony were still together he was always uploading random videos of him doing stuff. He holds that old school, original YouTube spirit of it just being a platform to express yourself via video.

Nothing inherently wrong with it. But when left to his own devices or responding to comments from fans, he is naturally going to fall back into some of the personality issues he has.

This was probably the lone time in the entire history of the show where the hosts demonstrated self-awareness. They took a legitimate step back and evaluated what they had gotten themselves into, not blaming anyone else and realizing that their behavior was the problem.

It was almost prophetic, deep down they realized on some level that they were their own worst enemy and that they couldn't control themselves. Which was only going to lead them to ruin with this new venture they were on.

To be fair to Opie - which I am far more often than others - he did get harassed a lot by the old Pests, so he's a little sensitive about it. What he should do is ignore the trolls, but he has not yet learned this skill.

I like how they put racist in quotes like that isn't true. He clings to black crime stats and the "I'm just stating facts!" argument but he legitimately hates all black people regardless of their standing in society. There was a news story a while ago about these high school band kids who were killed while changing a tire and of course Ant posts laughing face and gorilla emojis on it. Even after his followers explained to him that it was nothing to do with violence and they were just unlucky, he still says "I don't care." He is legit one of the most unashamed racists out there.

What the fuck even is that event he's speaking at too? A decade ago he was raking in millions, interviewing celebrities and had a fanbase who pretty much thought he could do no wrong. Now he's stuck giving speeches to about 50 people about how he's definitely not a racist and certainly still relevant. The guy is the absolute definition of the word hasbeen.

Also he looks and sounds like absolute shit.

Re-watching O&A reacting to white people rapping and being cringeworthy. Greg Opie tends to be the first to call out white liberal parents who want to teach kids diversity safely flittered in a white neighborhood without having their kids near non-white kids. It wasn't Anthony the called out people in the Christmas Jammies people for being liberal parents afraid of black kids hanging out with their kids. It was Opie. I am beginning to wonder if Opie's political views on race aren't that different from Anthony's. Opie back in the day would've hated white people who wanted to force Latinos to adopt tranny language like Latinx. Pretty sure of this. I enjoy Anthony talking about the books he reads. I hope he does book reviews one day. Also, O&A had the balls to make fun of 9/11 tribute songs before Howard Stern's.
