I'm not sure where to ask this, but has a thread for Fez Whatley ever been considered? I don't find one via search. He has since passed away and I love him dearly, but he was Ron's personal lolcow and he shared Fezzy with the rest of us for years.
The only problem with that, as I see it, is R&F was into the "Theatre of the Mind" aspect of radio. In this respect, they "got" radio far better than most of their shock jock brethren who would do dumb, ill-advised shit for real (in a strictly audio format mind you...no one can see any of this) and get themselves fired.

It's hard to say exactly how much of the stories about Fez, and his outbursts, nut hut visits, etc. weren't either completely made up out of whole cloth, or heavily exaggerated for the sake of entertainment. I suspect it's a bit of both. He likely had serious physical issues (the heart attacks) and his mental issues were played up for comedy.

No, but we have the Rat Kings subforum which acts as a forum for FEZZIES FROM AROUND THE WOOOORLD

He's back by the way and better than EVER. He even has a hole co-hosting on PFG-TV to help keep Scorch in line just in case Weird News gets a little too weird

This is sort of why I'm apprehensive about it - telling a shoot from a work is difficult.

I remember Big Jay (a very frequent guest of the show, like their patrice) saying even he didn't know what was a work and what was a shoot. from what oldfags have said Fez didn't lose his mind until having to move to NYC and Ron was the "dead weight" for the 20 years of their career before that. I'm more surprised Ron has enough of a following that he hasn't gotten kicked off satellite for low ratings yet

Opie has mentioned conversations he had with Ronnie about whether Fez was being serious or not. According to Opie, even Ron would say he wasn't sure sometimes, but went along with Fez for the show.

Fezzie was how Dan Bell is today. Very able to make masterful shit, but is an absolute house of cards that falls down at the lightest breeze.

Not even Jimmy is entertaining anymore.
I am not a fan of his stand up but when he has other good comedians to work off of, he was solid. It's too bad that format couldn't ever find success today, even if everyone that would be good at it would be willing to do it.

A Fez thread won't work because, for the most part, Fezzie was inherently likeable even when he was doing obnoxious shit. The same can't be said for guys like Cumia or The Opester.

Shit like this NEVER happened when Trump was President!!!!11

I disagree that a lolcow is inherently unlikeable. Joe Winko doesn't take himself seriously and is a pretty harmless character. The issue would be writing an OP that spans the late 80s to 2015 and is still able to hold people's attention. I've thought about making one but it's such a herculean task especially if I were to link all the youtube videos along the way. It does seem like the sort of thing farmers might be interested in though

Seeing how many people still talk highly about Fez years after his death indicates that he wasn't an insufferable and obnoxious moron off the air

I feel in the beginning he was playing more into it for entertainment on the radio. It was obviously rooted in real issues he had, but he was more stable and it hadn't started eating away a him just yet. The later years of the show you could tell it was genuinely real, he was losing his mind and Ron couldn't deal with it.

Looking back, the thing that triggered it all in my opinion was his fathers death at the beginning of 2011. A lot of Fez's issues stemmed from his childhood. A lot of people with parent issues often think that magically one day all issues will be resolved and they can then have a healthy relationship where nothing that occurred in the past bothers them anymore. This dream allows them to have a coping mechanism and can allow them to be stable despite the issues they have. When that parent dies and those issues remain unresolved, the surviving party now suddenly has to deal with the all the problems they suffer from and the fact that they never got what they were seeking from their now deceased parent.

That is obviously what happened with Fez: his fathers death opened a can of worms and he suddenly had to seriously deal with the fact that he never would get any satisfaction from his fathers end. I think him coming out as gay was in his mind the real problem and that dealing with his sexuality would fix all his mental problems. When they didn't happen, he found himself spiraling more and more out of control with his emotional instability. In my opinion, it was for the best that he retired and left radio so his issues couldn't continue playing out in front of the public.

Fezzy also developed anxiety after his heart attacks and Ron openly discussed Fezzie's alcohol issues.
