The shit he was being paid to say on the air was significantly more racist than the string of tweets he got fired for. If I recall correctly, Sirius XM cared less about the racist stuff and more about the comments about him carrying a gun and being responsible enough to not use it. Encouraging violence turned into racism because of the times. If the company held out a couple weeks and fired him for saying something blatantly racist on the air, the firing would have seemed more justified. Doing it the way they did just made it feel like they were looking for an excuse to drop the show and the first questionable thing that popped up led to them getting rid of Ant.

There's also the issue of whatever Anthony says on his radio show can be attributed to the "character" version of Anthony he played on that show.
His own personal twitter can't make that same distinction and is why it became a much bigger headache for XM, who already was a struggling company.
