The game's codename internally was "Dylan" for the longest time. It was apparently Casey Hudson's idea since he wanted to make a game that would be the gaming equivalent of what Bob Dylan did to music. (no I'm not joking).

It's worth noting he and Drew Karpyshyn (lead writer on most of Bioware's games up until Mass Effect 3) left Bioware during Anthem's development but came back somewhat recently. Which alone is a red flag you don't leave a project midway through its development when shit's going good.

This actually occurred back with Tomb Raider 2013. It was actually praised at the time by feminists. I know the lead developer of Tomb Raider 1 from 1996 stated he regretted their artistic decision to make her have very large tits like 20 years later. I think this is just retroactive though based on the mass amount of mockery they received over it.

In terms of making characters ugly on purpose this is really hard to actually debunk as a conspiracy because there's a great deal of evidence Bioware alone did this. Like Sera from Dragon Age Origins

The default female face option for Mass Effect Andromeda. Which is a particularly notable example since they licensed her likeness from an irl model but SOMEHOW made her uglier.

It's really hard to even claim this was done due to the designer being inept because they did the same thing with the male default face and there it looks spot on

This isn't even the tip of the iceberg with the bizarre artistic decisions they made with ME:A. Like at launch it was impossible to make a character with pale white skin, all of the options were tanned or black. Then there was how one of the lead designers spoke fairly often on twitter about how much he hated white people and how the game wasn't designed for them. And he was fired after ME:A launched.

I would say "Oh well EA/Bioware did it because he publicly embarrassed their company". But in reality I find it more likely he was just let go because of the massive turnover at EA based developers. They have a habit of firing most of the development staff after big projects.

Oh battlefield V had 76 beat. It was $30 real fast. Got that EA quality. Another “we’ll roll out content for years after” scam.

I was shocked when I heard red dead 2 was 100 gb. However after hundreds of hours of content later it makes sense.

There is actually another Baseball game that exists called R.B.I baseball that MLB itself has made since the 2k lisence ran out but none of those games have been recived well.

They can do that. There’s 3 modes in Franchise mode called Coach, Player, and Owner.

What kills me about this is that gggmanlives says at the end that there is something beneath the game's issues and that if EA managed to iron them out then it would be something decent. Even better, he brings up Rainbow Six: Siege as an example, saying he hated it at first but UbiSoft eventually turned it into something great.

Saying there's nothing constructive about the review is just being dishonest.

Apologies for the double post, but gggmanlives reuploaded his review. He states in the intro that he's re-edited it because it was deemed too negative, but re-editing also made him go over what other people were saying and compare it with his own thoughts.

He still doesn't like the game though.

Honestly despite the constant Bioware nostalgia wanking, if you didn't grow up with the games it'll probably be hard to get into now and i say this as someone who still owns the original BG CD's and manuals. Most of Bioware's games have extremely dated systems compared to modern gaming, which makes sense since BG is 2 decades old at this point. Bioware has been creatively bankrupt for almost a decade now and people need to let it go.

Khalid and Jarheria, Minsc and Dynaheir, Quayle and Aerie (+ Your kid if you romance her), Sarevok kills your foster father to you and your sister, even Xzar and Montoran. There are so many family themes i never even thought about as a kid.

I quit my most recent play through of BG during siege of dragonspear release. It bugged my game during a quest in which the main character dies (game over) if it's not completed in a certain timeframe. The person who curses your character kept respawning and cursing the character with each new fog of war.

All so i could learn about a poor opressed tranny in a world with sex-change magic. Fuck you Beamdog.

I saw this image and wanted to post it, but I think it might be shopped. The "39.-" looks kind of off, there's strange artifacts around it and when you open the shop's internet presence, it says the game is 69 Euro... if this turns out to be true, though... holy fuck.
