AI does cheat but they can't build more defenses than you can build offenses. There is an item for Ships of The Line/Battleships that gives them a mortar shot. Get a few of those, have some bait ships ready to die and just shell the defenses one at a time until you clear the island.
Thanks, while she is busy with Willie again hopefully it can buy me enough time to prepare against her, I am sure she will come for me next

I don’t get why someone would take a maritime trading franchise about developing chains of islands and say, “Ah yes, this would be perfect for ROME, not Greece.”
I was about to say "Maybe games about Rome are just easier to market and sell" thinking back to Total War and Expeditions: Rome but then it occurred to me that Ubisoft themselves already published Assassin's Creed Odyssey, which (apparently) sold 30 million copies in 6 years. Shy of what most corpos want but not bad numbers by any stretch. Now I don't get it either.

I’d agree if it was a comparison of Rome and Persia or Egypt or Phoenicians or some such, but Greekshit is a huge market itself.

Maybe they are just more familiar with the former.
It should be noted that Ubisoft Mainz, the studio responsible for developing this game is located in what used to be many centuries ago the important Roman settlement Mogontiacum.
