I'm still trying to determine if she has any connection to Hawaii whatsoever or just took it upon herself to be offended on their behalf. I'm leaning towards the latter because "continent of Hawaii."

I'm really confused as to why a hula girl would be akin to a "black face mammy." Hula is a part of Hawaiian culture and a thing still practiced there. Does she think "hula girl" is some made-up racist caricature or something?

It's a benign ethnic stereotype which is NOT OKAY! Except when white people being portrayed as slack-jawed yokels and inbred hicks etc.

I can follow her thinking even though it is incredibly stupid. In her messed up mind she sees the long suffering native Hawaiians and their noble culture reduced to a piece of kitsch.
