What does anyone think of Flame of Recca?

https://youtube.com/watch?v=r133efMPSaI
I wonder why they never adapted the rest of the manga, was it not popular enough? Did the TV series do poorly or was it just another shonen series that got lost in the shuffle? I remember folks comparing it to Yu Yu Hakusho back in the day.
When I hear Recca the only thing I can think of is Summer Carnival'92

Flame of Recca (the manga) is pretty good, gets even better and feels more distinct once the tournament arc ends. The art improved significantly as it went on. As for why the anime only ends there I have no idea. I read it's pretty popular in one of those poor south east pseudo-chink countries.

Joker survives and appears in another of the same mangaka's work, he steals the show.

I think the anime club I was in back in Montreal showed Flame of Recca circa 1999 but I remember so little about it that my first thought from hearing the title was to think of a girl with red hair who had flame powers but then I figured out that I was thinking of Shakugan no Shana.

Yeah it was pretty much popular in the Philippines as many are fans of Yu Yu Hakusho renamed Ghost Fighter, Recca was always compared to YYH. In both shows they Westernized the names, I remember reading something that the name Fuuko sounded dirty to some Filipinos, they renamed her Aira.

It’s impressive how hard it is to just pull off a single father manga. I can’t think of one that actually manages it without getting weird.
EDIT: obligatory
>Josei
>good
What about Papa no Ikuoto wo Kikinasai? The story gets a bit ridiculous in some areas but it's overall pretty wholesome.

Generally, its hard to find a manga written by a woman at all that hasn't had any age gap/massive height difference relationship.
Better luck looking up stuff written by men in that regard.
That being said, Chichikogusa is pretty good, if short.

How about Net-juu no Susume? It's a seinen romance between a man and woman in their 20s and was written by a woman.

So apparently the actress playing Faye in the Netflix Cowboy Bebop said that she didn’t even like the source material and mocked fans for being made about the outfit or something.

You'd imagine that if there was no way to recreate the show and characters then they shouldn't have bothered with making a live action in the first place.
I can't wait do see this shit burn.

Because actual fans don't want any part of them (see: Zac Efron allegedly turning down the role of Light for Live Action Death Note)
I'd rather watch an adaptation (albeit still doomed to fail) created out of love and fun by fans of the series than a cut-and-dry exec=driven doing-it-for-the-paycheck soulless loose adaptation. And the former has proven to produce something watchable no matter how cringe it can get.

The issue is these live action anime adaptations are mostly just movie executives wanting to sell popular anime to normies in a more adult format due to how America has a stigma towards animation.

Live action anime adaptations even in Japan seem to be like this too but more in just milking a popular IP but usually they are better than the American live action films (with notable exceptions like FMA’s live action movie) since there is more respect to the source material (like the live action Jojo stuff for example)

Unfortunately, the former doesn’t get funded by executives because they want the latter. They want it to appeal to everyone rather than the established fanbase, so they change things content in the knowledge that fans will come anyway because it’s the thing they like, no matter how mangled.

I can't help but think about Alec Guinness. From what I remember reading, he wasn't particularly thrilled about the premise of Star Wars when he played in it, but he knew to keep his mouth shut and remain professional.

In that world, this lady would have been fired and possibly blacklisted for doing something so irresponsible, but nowadays, it's STUNNING AND BRAVE!

It is rare but it does exists, the director is also playing the main character. You can feel the love for it every second

I think this is the real reason as to why in the final years of the last decade, Battle Angel Alita is still the best live action film that I’ve seen in a while.

It says a lot that that along with Sonic The Hedgehog was actually made with the real fans in mind.
