Ah, that's true, [adult swim] still somehow cares about quality at the very least. Genndy Tartakovsky's passion for animation is very tangible, and the day he dies, honest animation quality will die with him, mark my words.
Probably won't happen and his style might not work for it.
But since AS is now producing anime, imagine if they give Genndy an anime studio to work with and just let him go wild.

I tried reading Fiance’s Observation Log of the Self-Proclaimed Villainess and found it to be a lot of fun. It sort of reminds me of Ouran Host Club in the way that it nudges and winks at a lot of shoujo tropes while also still using them unironically as well. And the main protagonist is fun in a completely clueless way.

That said, the fact that it’s shoujo led to a place where I was like “this manga could end here” (after the antagonist is banished, they could have wrapped it up with one chapter), but instead we have 4 more chapters for a wedding (which, fine, it’s the shoujo payoff) and then a 1 chapter time skip that I felt actually kind of made the ending much less good.

Speaking of series that go on too long… has any manga ever ruined itself by not quitting while it was ahead as badly as Usagi Drop did? Because fuuuuuuuuuuuuck, dude.

Usagi Drop is more like a guy shooting himself than being so long it got ruined. Just continue with the story of the cute surrogate family rather than indulging in the writer's creepy fetish.

I recall reading the comments section of someone talking about Usagi Drop, and a dude defended what happened at the end because his parents had the same relationship. So yeah...

100% it was the opposite of the mother raising the father and grooming him all the way. Having a single father is rare even outside of media.

It’s impressive how hard it is to just pull off a single father manga. I can’t think of one that actually manages it without getting weird.
EDIT: obligatory
>Josei
>good

Yotsuba&! is the gold standard I feel when it comes to that. Even then, it doesn’t dwell too much on the single father aspect and emphasizes more so on Yotsuba’s antics and interactions with the world and people around her.

My simple question is...WHY?

Doesn't change the fact that the actions made Konoha retroactively stupid. That is made both Naruto and Sasuke (fake) gods.
To be fair, I think Naruto really does belong to Konoha. A village idiot from a village full of hypocritical idiots.

I had an epiphany myself:
The fact that Naruto get so much praise while Shaman King was left to the wayside is insulting. Yoh does the "Talk no Jutsu" better with more maturity than Naruto. Hunter X Hunter has a better "gray morality" exploration in less volumes than Naruto.

Need a tl;dw for a 20 minute random video by a tiny youtuber.
But guessing from the title, it's the billionth iteration of bitching about the moral of Naruto about hard work paying out not applying. With Naruto and Sasuke being reincarnations and getting super powered genetics . The answer of this is a resounding "okay".
Also Naruto had far better design and energy than Shaman King (at least to my 12 year old self) and, unlike HXH has an actual ending (with the film being a fantastic finale). Also inspired a wholesome romance manga.

Generally, its hard to find a manga written by a woman at all that hasn't had any age gap/massive height difference relationship.
Better luck looking up stuff written by men in that regard.
That being said, Chichikogusa is pretty good, if short.

is it just japanese dub? i wonder if they'll redub it with a new english cast though the netflix dub will be burned in my mind.

is there an abridged edit of naruto out there? without goofy commentary or edits but just the meat. got past the exams to the seige on the village, pace was getting good and now its slowed down to crawl when suske and gara started fighting.
Friend was asking about kakegurui. Idk how to explain it because they were asking about how graphic it is lol. I've always said its Mean Girls Gambling Edition

Except it does still apply - yes, thet started with super genetics, but so do literally all ninjas. They’re basically an (intentional) eugenics program. And it’s also not like any of them just sit on their asses and wait to succeed - even “lazy asses” like Shikamaru work and train in their own way.

I think the series message is pretty reasonable - genetics are not destiny, but neither is hard work by itself a guarantee of success, but if you work hard and help people along the way, they’ll have your back and you’ll do ok.

And all the rest of Rudyard Kipling’s advice about growing up.

The big problem over the (presumed) line of thinking in the video is that it assumes that if you aren't the best then your effort were in vain, which is a childish way of thinking over your future.
Rock Lee still became a massively competent ninja despite his massive disability.

What does anyone think of Flame of Recca?

I wonder why they never adapted the rest of the manga, was it not popular enough? Did the TV series do poorly or was it just another shonen series that got lost in the shuffle? I remember folks comparing it to Yu Yu Hakusho back in the day.
