Technically anime-like, but are you familiar what happened with Winx Club?Could be worse. If a magical girl anime ever got live action, we'd likely end up with something like this.

I read it as Magical Girl OGRE and was disappointed. A magical girl turning into a giant hulking monstrosity would be hilarious.Magical Girl Ore is based around the joke and it was really good

Isn't that She-Hulk?I read it as Magical Girl OGRE and was disappointed. A magical girl turning into a giant hulking monstrosity would be hilarious.
Somebody who is illiterate enough to complain about having to read subtitles won't appreciate any notable work of cinema. It's a lost cause.A bit off topic, but I was discussing anime with someone, and I asked if they thought all anime was bad (this was in reply to the idea of how Invincible would feel if it was an anime). He responded with this.

With all that he said in mind, what anime would you consider to be masterpieces that you would recommend to skeptics of the medium like him? I do tend to see these sorts of complaints fairly often.
1. Who the fuck cares if some people don’t like anime? I think superhero comics are gay as fuck but that shouldn’t stop anyone else from enjoying them, nor is it an invitation for them to try and convince me otherwise.A bit off topic, but I was discussing anime with someone, and I asked if they thought all anime was bad (this was in reply to the idea of how Invincible would feel if it was an anime). This guy just revealed to you he's a fucking poser who's refusing to assimilate into the anime community through making himself learn how to read subs or by making himself listen to weird hackjob dubs through any way that'll make it somewhat entertaining. He also doesn't appreciate animation for what it is in the slightest. Kick him, hard.A bit off topic, but I was discussing anime with someone, and I asked if they thought all anime was bad (this was in reply to the idea of how Invincible would feel if it was an anime). This was announced like back in March or January, though? Think since it's not "outright" hentai and FUNimation bungled Interspecies Reviewers, Sentai was the only one ballsy enough to get it. I'll be more surprised if they ever end up dubbing it, however.I'm surprised to learn Sentai picked up Redo.
I didn't follow the series at all so I must have missed when it was mentioned here. This was announced like back in March or January, though? Dennou Coil and Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun's dubs were great, though.Sentai's dubs are already some of the worst
Yeah, she's Singaporean. It might be that I haven't seen the show for some time, but wasn't Faye the asian one? Not that it's easy guessing the ethnicity of that mongrel.
It's because they took out literally every non plot critical scene, which meant all the funny and slice of life parts. Hell even plot critical stuff got cut down to brief wordless montages like Yoh going to the museum to visit Amidamaru's best friend. Like many good but structurally standard shonen, it's those moments that give Shaman King its soul, and being a show ABOUT soul the lack of it is especially jarring. It's reduced to a boss rush with little characterization. I assume this is because they're limited to a hard 52 episode count limit rather than just doing it season by season. The version of the series they're adapting is 35 volumes long.
It's funny how this happened compared to how Pierrot and Toei ruin long running shonen by slowing them down.
In the new SH anime's case, the mangaka's faggotry fucked it up.Sounds about right. The fact that they cut down the hitch hiking scene should be considered a crime.
But even the boss rush stuff they suck on. Tao Yúan felt substantially less interesting as a fight and not just because they decided not to use Brave Heart as the fight music. They're rushing the boss part of the boss rush.
There's a 20 year gap between the first anime and this one. If any animated series that old has arguably better fight scenes someone needs a kick in the backside.
That's actually pretty nice, Imagine something like this:Could be worse. If a magical girl anime ever got live action, we'd likely end up with something like this.

I highly doubt anything you'd give him would matter since it seems he's already made up his mind and I doubt he'd give a fair viewing to anything, even if you gave him any widely considered masterpieces. They'd probably make some excuse for any of them, like it's an exception, or make up some weak reasoning on why they think it's not good. I'm too lazy to list down any examples for any of my points, but probably anyone here would know multiple for each talking point anyway.A bit off topic, but I was discussing anime with someone, and I asked if they thought all anime was bad (this was in reply to the idea of how Invincible would feel if it was an anime). I didn’t even bother reading the post fully… in what world is modern Western animation technically high quality? Most of not all of it is either tweened puppets done in After Effects (very prevalent in adult animation like Bojack and Archer) or it’s intentionally ugly or highly stylized (like Bob’s Burgers or any number of Calarts clones). Anything with animation that’s of a higher caliber (say, Avatar or Castlevania) is explicitly trying to copy anime.I highly doubt anything you'd give him would matter since it seems he's already made up his mind and I doubt he'd give a fair viewing to anything, even if you gave him any widely considered masterpieces. They'd probably make some excuse for any of them, like it's an exception, or make up some weak reasoning on why they think it's not good. 1) Much to the dislike of some sub purists there are a number of great dubs that are just as good (if not sometimes better) than the original sub. They don't really suffer from the unnatural stiffness usually caused by inexperienced/lacking VA and bad scripts.
2) I know it can be somewhat difficult to get used to reading subs, but it quickly becomes second nature if you actually try watching subtitled media. It isn't a difficult skill to learn and it unlocks a large expanse of world cinema, this guy is making the same excuses people made about Parasite.
3) Visuals are entirely subjective on what someone likes, but it makes me wonder what they view as the better western animation examples in their mind. Personally, I find most western animations unappealing for the most part (of course with some exemptions) and much prefer the art styles seen in anime.
4) "Action feeling static" makes me wonder what shows they've seen because there are so many great shows with amazing action choreography and fluid animation. Of course not every series has the budget or talent to pull off that high level, but there's enough great examples that I know their statement comes from ignorance.
5) Talking about characterization, it entirely depends on the show as how the characters act depend on what 'feel' the show is going for. I don't find it a problem in most anime, but I'm also not a good judge since I enjoy Toku stuff (which I think they'd probably also dislike) and there's often a lot of overacting going on there.
