I remember way back watching a bunch of those series, but of the big three the only one I got far in was Bleach as I couldn't get very far in the others since they didn't really do it for me. Even then, the endless filler that started creeping in made me eventually drop that series too since it felt like I was wasting my time. All the new announcements for Bleach have me want to go back and at least read it since it probably has less filler than the anime.I feel like that generation of hundreds-of-episodes-long Shonen anime where fans have to defend it with “b-b-but it gets good after episode 150, I swear!” is stuff that you can only really enjoy if you grew up with it as a kid. Like, if Naruto was the first anime I ever watched in middle school I’d probably think it was pretty sick, but I tried watching it recently and had basically the same experience as you. Holy fuck did it suck.
I watched all of Naruto (the original, not Shippuden) back in middle school and I don't think I could ever sit through however long Naruto Shippuden is let alone Boruto or whatever kids these days are watching. Like I don't even think nostalgia could do it because for every cool episode or two there'd be ten episodes of "this is boring". The same goes with Bleach and One Piece.I feel like that generation of hundreds-of-episodes-long Shonen anime where fans have to defend it with “b-b-but it gets good after episode 150, I swear!” is stuff that you can only really enjoy if you grew up with it as a kid. Did you read the manga first? I hadn't when I first watched it and it's still one hell of a trip either way. It's pure manly shit and a fucking great gorefest.Watching New Getter Robo. Ryoma might be the most badass mecha pilot in fiction.
New completely skips the Dinosaurs, but from Arc it seems that the show had tons of baddies over the years. Also wasn't Arc never concluded because Go Nagai Mirua'd?Did you read the manga first? I like how there will never be a true adaption of the Getter Robo manga since even the Arc anime airing now is mashing in all sorts of shit from other parts of the manga. It makes for great fanservice and I guess establishes a context for whoever watching hasn't read the manga for whatever reason.
IIRC Arc was cancelled because the magazine it was published in went under and the creator died while he was searching for a new publisher.New completely skips the Dinosaurs, but from Arc it seems that the show had tons of baddies over the years. It wasn't Go Nagai (who is still alive) but Ken Ishikawa who died before the conclusion. He often gets forgotten in discussion on Getter, but he was a very important part of it. Arc itself was written and drawn by him with Nagai as more an editor and assistant writer.New completely skips the Dinosaurs, but from Arc it seems that the show had tons of baddies over the years. my issue is that i don't care for the harry potter power fantasies that this style of anime thrives on anymore. i loved dbz as a kid and didn't get past the first 5 or 6 episodes on a recent rewatch. also doesn't help that everyone has a sad backstory and friendship solves all problems, even after death; and then the endless flashbacks, recaps and re-explanations of shit i just watched last episode or the episode before.I was an avid naruto hater as a kid, but last year as an adult I took the plunge and I like it a lot tbh. Of course, my shounen of choice is YuGiOh!, but anyways thats not important. For me, I feel like if I had to recommend a way to enjoy naruto it would be through the games. However, Ultimate Ninja Storm 1 sucks major ass and your better off playing thru the ninja timeline and reading the synopsis in 2-3 before you do a fight.
Or just watch shippuden since it gives you enough flashbacks you don't really need to watch the og anime, however esp in the ninja war the filler gets long, boring, or really confusing.
I'm not done with either og or shippuden, but yea it can drag sometimes so i'd recommend the games for sure if you wanted to still try naruto and since they make for pretty solid games by themselves.
To avoid double posting, can somebody explain the culling game in the JJK manga? I still don't understand that shit or what's going on with Tsumiki now.
Bleach recently did got a One Shot announcing a new arc of sorts.I remember way back watching a bunch of those series, but of the big three the only one I got far in was Bleach as I couldn't get very far in the others since they didn't really do it for me. They better end it with a bang, since it deserves nothing less.January 2022 is when Seitokai Yakuindomo will end it’s manga serialization.
For an anime that I remembered stumbling on accident only to end up loving it years after watching, I’m hoping it ends on a good note.
Seeing both the anime and the movies makes me think that quality wise, they really knew how to make the anime last for 15 years:

I find for Kubo he lives by the 'Rule of Cool' school where he just wants to draw slick battles and power-ups, plot consistency coming second. From people discussing later Bleach a lot of them seem to feel like Kubo eventually lost interest, but was forced to continue by Jump editors because of its popularity. While the Bleach manga doesn't have the anime filler I can only describe it as the world's first and foremost geriatric manga drawn by a man who doesn't want to draw and doesn't feel like writing either. Much like a cancer patient it only gets worse over time.
I always felt Kubo just wanted to design characters, not actually write stories with them. He would just shit out 40 characters every arc, and most of them would be well designed but completely irrelevant to the plot. I'm also pissed at whichever retard convinced him the story didn't naturally end after the Fake K Town arc.
