It felt to me like the jank was on purpose. It's like the creators trying to capture the feel of old anime.
I can kinda get that since some shots really seem to want to emulate old school getter, but I also feel like some of the jank is not on purpose and is related to production issues. Reason I think some of it is unintentional is also just how off the sound is at some points for anything not voice acting. Personally feel like New Getter Robo back in the 00s did a better job of mixing in that old anime look with the thick linework that got really fluid during fights.

Not much of a sound guy so I didn't notice those effects.
To me it sometimes reminded my a lot of the infamous mummy trailer leak in how unblended the mixing was for the sound effects, that's why I mentioned how it reminded me of an in-studio rough where they made use of stock effects as place holders before they tweak it or blend it in so that it doesn't overpower everything else.

As long as they don't lewd Kanna and keep her wholesome, all is well.

Too late, she's physically 7 years old with the hips and thighs of a 32 year old midwestern soccer mom

Like anything has ever stopped the R34 crowd from going to town on such characters. Hell, the fact that, technically speaking, she was born centuries ago has only further bolstered their justification for lewding her.

If everyone can tell it's a dark comedy and that's why they're enjoying it, I could probably let the dick-sucking pass. Unfortunately, the newbies/veteran fans are a bunch of dumbasses who think it's legitimately scary and it's all so tiresome. I feel as apathetic as Rika on her 500th loop at this point.
I agree, Gou was the reason I read the manga & suddenly everything since around episode 11-13 got boring. Later with the guts & gore thing in EP.15, the show became hilarious. After that, the show has been either really boring, or just an ironic comedy. The best episode was probably the Gojo Redemption Arc. But that's all I actually liked.

Sotsu has wasted a potentially good arc with Rina & I just know it'll be boring if I didn't just found it funny. The latest episode [EP.3] was something I skipped mostly (they reused a lot of shit, but this is Higurashi so it makes sense), but Rika's "FIGHTO DESU" scene is the most hilarious thing in Higurashi history, the screenwriter deserves an award for that.

Like, I know I'm supposed to feel thrilled or scared, but I read the whole manga & even watched Gou. Something between seeing the same scenario over-&-over again & the show being ironically hilarious has kinda gave me a whole unintended effect on the show.

On the topic of Dragon Maid, I realized something today and wanted to share.
1.PNG

has a very similar personality to
2.PNG

Nenene Sumiregawa
And that's why she seemed so familiar to me when I first started watching.

I can't believe none of you have posted this. This is big fucking news:

Next to Nadia: Shape of Blue Water, Future Boy Conan is on the list of the most under appreciated anime you’ve never seen. It’ll be interesting to see how much Miyazaki’s fans will like this, since they’re probably know in the mid-50’s and 60’s.

Only in America. The rest of the world knows about it. If you know the right people here, you know about it. But now the English-speaking mainstream will know about it.

The first episode of Dragon Maid looks incredible but I'm pretty surprised they're starting off with the giant tittied shortstack giving the main character a penis.

A giant tittied shortstack giving a female character a surprise male appendage seems to be a really specific fetish of mangaka Coolkyoushinnjya/Cool Kyou Shinsha since it also happens in his Chichi Chichi manga except, in Chichi Chichi, the surprise male appendage is an illusion created by Manana's hypnosis or her dream manipulation.

Yes, it's that Studio David, the initial looks at this show left me feeling a bit apprehensive but I think this might actually not be bad at all.

As for the manga, which had the first three volumes translated into English by Viz back in the 1990s, and titled "Striker" instead of "Spriggan", well, the movie was a loose-ish adaption of the "Noah's Ark" storyline - and totally different in tone. Full bore shonen-y Indiana Jones type series with some politics. It gets kind of crazy, the movie featured hero Yu Ominae's French colleague Jaques but he didn't transform into a werewolf like he does when he's badly injured during the manga, as one example.

Is there any reason why Dragon Maid Season 2's OP resembles Nichijou's OP so much?

It might be because Tatsuya Ishihara, who directed Nichijou, is also the series director for Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid S (MKDM season 2), replacing MKDM season 1 series director Yasuhiro Takemoto who died in the arson attack.

The PV for Jahy-sama wa Kujikenai has just been released. I’m still looking forward to this come the end of the month.

Also, purple hair looks pretty nice with tanned skin. If she gets trending on Twitter for the same way they treated Nagatoro, then I’ll know for the fact that I made the right decision sticking by the Queen of the Demon Realm who was just trying to do her best to pay rent and work in a tavern at full time :story:

Not only is the creator of Jahy-sama, Wakame Konbu, a woman but most of the main staff on the creative side of this particular anime adaptation are also women, so it being a nearly all-female production should put it high enough on the progressive stack to help allay some of the inevitable controversy about Jahy switching between her big and little forms.

On tonight's episode of The Writer's not-even-at-all disguised Fetish
The fourth year of the Meiji Era. Yukinosuke, the son of a family of the privileged aristocratic class, goes about his life covering up a worry he has, being “I have not once had an erection”. In the midst of such troubled days, he meets Sayo, the head of a family of executioners spanning back into the Edo period. After witnessing a beheading performed by her, something pitch black starts to well up inside Yukinosuke!! Sprouting from lust begins a noble romance of blood and nature!!
Thats what you get for thinking something has an okay thumbnail and daring to read the description

Out of all the isekai that are airing for the summer 2021 season, Genjitsu Shugi Yuusha no Oukoku Saikenki is looking to be a good one. First two episodes in and the premise, characters, and plot are quite good. The protagonist is basically faced with an Adam Jensen "I didn't ask for this" situation in the new world he was transported to. I recommend.

I sort of like "let's apply economics to a fantasy setting" genre, as exemplified by Spice and Wolf and Maoyuu Maou Yuusha but I'm not sold on this one yet. All the characters are generic, the country is Weimer republic levels of holding the idiot ball but somehow they are pretty good when it comes to actually enacting the protagonist's dictates (although the plot insists otherwise, there's no evidence presented to the viewer other then "someone might be embezzling or screwing up the budget somewhere" which is completely normal).
