He's got a point. I dont completely agree with him, but the Japanese are certainly taking advantage of the fact that most western story's are no longer being told. What say you guys on this take on the fact and anime and manga are currently outselling a lot of View attachment 2246030Western media?

Though I do have to take an issue with the fact that the poster is acting like anime and manga being inspired by all those works somehow makes them bad or mediocre. He's got a point. What a retarded Razorfist level tier opinion. We're sure he isn't altposting this? Though he'd go an extra mile and claim the japs steal from the French. What say you guys on this take on the fact and anime and manga are currently outselling a lot of View attachment 2246030Western media?

I find it's a moot point because taking inspiration or ideas from other forms of media happens no matter the region or age, it's not something unique to Japan. If you look into most of the western works they listed as a gotcha you can see that they also typically took inspiration from earlier works, doesn't that make them just as derivative following his logic? You can't just claim it's bad when one side does it and fine when another author does, how many western creators have taken inspiration from Japanese works? This isn't even going into how much mythology, old folk lore, and fairy tales get taken into works through use of their themes or ideas that even the creators might not actively know they're using. With those things it's even harder to link to one specific region because ever region has its own variation of folk lore/fairy tale that is slightly different from each other to reflect the unique worries and desired messaging of those telling the stories. For example, look up a story like Cinderella and just see how many variations of the story it has. What say you guys on this take on the fact and anime and manga are currently outselling a lot of View attachment 2246030Western media?
I honestly hate how much culture warriors lay the blame for all the ills Western media faces on this ever present "woke creator" that has apparently wormed its way everywhere, rather than actually stopping to think. The problems currently facing Western media isn't so simple you can lay the blame on one thing like that, I think it's multiple issues all compiling together. A lot of films nowadays have this weirdly detached corporate feel to them devoid of creator intent, there's also far more focus on creating sequels or remakes of popular works while not understanding what made the original good.Wrong question. The correct question is "Why can't Western media tell engaging stories any more?"
Culture warriors might argue about "woke creators" but I don't buy it. Communists told good stories. Nazis wrote good movies.
I suspect we're seeing a more fundamental breakdown, where people responsible for making entertainment can't distinguish between a compelling story and random trash, and an over-reliance on "tests" that return numerical data that doesn't actually correlate with audience interest.
It's primarily a lack of meritocracy. Only the shit floats upward and those people can't write to save their lives.Wrong question. The correct question is "Why can't Western media tell engaging stories any more?"

If it isn't a joke, and I'm not saying it's not, he got seven years in jail for torrenting anime? Or would the "resisting arrest" part account for the bulk of his jail time? (Even if it is real, there could always have been more charges than he's willing to admit on Twitter.)
lmao he probably torrented cp
Probably, but 7 years is a bit too much just for pirating anime. I'd understand if it was 1-3 years, but 7? there's something they're not telling us.While I'm not accusing him of anything since I don't know the facts (or whether this is just an elaborate, 7-year-long Twitter prank), that thought occurred to me as well, I can't say I've ever heard of anyone getting a visit from the police just for torrenting anime.
Doesn't an Intellectual Property owner wanting to enforce their copyright on BitTorrent generally just get the Internet Provider to send you a warning letter to stop otherwise they sue?
EDIT: People have been arrested for uploading anime to BitTorrent in Japan before so maybe it's legit if he's Japanese. I don't know where he is in the world, so I suppose that's a possibility.
