business logic?
it makes sense, if something's popular obviously people like it, and want more of it. hence more of it gets produced because there's an established demographic. till it gets saturated and the next boom appears.
the problem is when you have companies doubling down and only do what's popular till the cow is milked to death, even with whatever boom anime brings there's still enough other stuff getting funded and adopted (because there are demographics besides the mainstream one, and if you get lucky you might strike gold with something).
meanwhile in the west you got ...capeshit. which is now woke. yay?

which they wouldn't had if nip companies would actually given a shit what the west gets, but as long as some licensing money flows in that's a nice bonus to the nip market income. don't get me wrong, it's good that they rather focus on their domestic market and produce for that, but at least be aware what crap it turns into when it crosses the pond.
but now sony owns pretty much most of it anyway, so the damage is done. gg.
 
So AT&T is merging WarnerMedia with Discovery to form some new company and while this seems completely unrelated to anime this includes Warner Bros Japan which is part of the production and distribution of a decent amount of series in japan including a few Jump adaptations (Jojo's, Gintama, and Soma) a few LN adaptations (Danmachi, and a few of the newer railgun/index entries), and some of the more talked about series in the past few years (Mob Psycho, Shirobako, Eizouken, and maybe Record of Ragnarok if the anime doesn't shit the bed)

Is the anime worth watching? The manga is one of my favorites (also Nanako may be one of the most adorable heroines ever), but I usually don’t bother watching anime of stuff I read manga for, these days.

Since this inspired me to reread Senryu Girl, I have to say - the translator who put in the effort to make sure that all the senryu still scan as 5-7-5 even in English is the most unsung hero in fan translation.

It's part of the whole moe thing. Japan (and especially anime otaku) are attracted to characters with contradictory traits. Like a class president that goes home and plays MMOs in a tanktop is part of gap moe. Weebs get all autistic about the disconnect between their public persona and their inner life and the insecurities that implies, but it's ultimately just subverting expectations in character building.

It would be interesting and unique except everyone does it for every major female character (and sometimes male ones if romance is a focus) and pretty much all of it falls into one of several archetypes.

I don’t read or speak nip nong, but I’m sure that his assistants will know the ending. Even if it never gets truly finished, they’ll leak it or do a one shot for closure.
 
Dammit. This is horrible. I cant believe its true... We were 80% done with Berserk and he was still young. Fucking 2021.
 
He said in an interview a while back that we were very close to the "first real duel" with Griffith. The moonlight child JUST showed up. We were heading for the final chunk of the series. And the dude dies at 54. Just 54.

Is there a precedent for this? I have to assume he can’t be the FIRST mangaka to pass away before finishing his work, but I dunno if Japan has the same expectation that an author will have their work posthumously published.
