No, every dark skinned character is black or whatever. Never mind the animes that actually have blacks in them make them dark enough it's not questionable. Also, just sit back and wait until they get to an episode where her tan lines are visible and you can see how pale she'd actually be. I'm sure they'll some how rage about that too, but it all amuses me.
Someone on twitter actually thought she was a Latina, then she thought she was just Blasian. I actually posted it here at the time of the trailer release fuckery.

There's a shot where you can see her tan lines in this episode, seems like they're just going to ignore it. Though looking through twitter, it seems more like they're anal about people using it as pfp for some reason rather than anything else.
It’s because you’re only allowed to have a “””””””””””black””””””””””””” anime character as an avatar of you yourself are black, according to Twitter.

I sometimes wonder if they realize that while the Japanese are typically pretty pale for Asians, they can get pretty dark when they tan. And that a girl in swim club is going to have one hell of a tan. I hope they never run into Gyaru.

Hell, they'll probably call Gyarus & Ganguro blackface or something. Irony is, Okinawans are naturally tanned. So they'll probably consider them black too, because ofc they will.

To be fair, that would be a step up from how the Japanese think of them. I feel like what needs to be done is round up some AIKA JAVs and ask them if she looks black, because that color is what they're calling black.

Did those people confused about Nagatoro's ethnicity ever see that one summer episode of K-On!! where Azusa Nakano got so tanned that her friend Ui Hirasawa didn't recognize her at first?

Personally, if I didn't already know that Nagatoro's just a Japanese girl who got tan due to her practicing in the outdoor pool for the swim club, I'd assume she was supposed to be east Indian or southeast Asian, not black or Hispanic.

I would assume most of these people have never watched K-On!! beyond memes. Fuck, I actually know the episode you're talking about and I didn't even particularly like K-On, I was just going through KyoAni shows after getting back into anime in the late aughts. Probably doesn't stop these people from bitching about how problematic Moeblob shows were. These are the same people that bitched about Scarlett Johansen playing the Major, even though the Major's own creator says she's supposed to look caucasian.

Honestly this talk of anime characters being tan where westeners think they are black is making me cringe at the thought of the Part 6 anime of Jojo when people call Pucci an African American despite the fact he is a dark skinned Italian since his biological parents are both white (Spoilers) Not to mention he would've been killed by the racist detective he hired since they killed someone else for supposedly having a black father

Oh, it can always be worse. Just wait until Twitter finds out about how Anasui was supposed to be a girl originally.

Oh and don’t forgot how Jolyne doesn’t beat Pucci but it’s Emporio instead despite her not being the first or last Jojo to defeat the final villain in their part.

I hope they change it and make him tan and lighten his skin up, it would really help all the confusion.

I've seen people explain this as Anasui using Diver Down to change his own anatomy, since he's a dude in a girl prison and needs to blend in, and/or because he didn't initially trust Jolyne to see his real body. Would also be better if they make one of these canon just to reduce confusion.

Sakura Wars did have an intelligent black female

She’s a lawyer and a biker. Only problem is that they made her cook fried chicken

At some point you would think it would register that Nagatoro is not black. She is just tan.

I would also hope it would occur to them that Asian people are not all one color. They run the spectrum from light skinned to darker skinned.

But nope. Every tan or darker skinned character is black to them. Despite having a Japanese name and origin.

It is the same exact shit they did with MHA and that bunny hero. Who is named Rumi Usagiyama and saying she is black despite having that name and being from Hiroshima.

Fuck these people.
Americans did call Filipinos the N word once upon a time. I wonder if they think Okinawans are black.

Yeah, but then Twitter will claim Anasui is trans.

Look guys, black characters
I remember reading this a while ago but completely forgot about it till this popped up in my recommendations

Threadly reminder that "Anasui was supposed to be a female but then the evil heternormative editor stopped our ally Araki" is a rumor born 100% from fans, has never been confirmed by anything, and if you try and look into it you'll soon realize that there's no sources for it because it's glorified hearsay.

It's never been confirmed and Araki is no ally, when people were calling Jojo guys gay he was legit confused.

Has anyone started Megalobox Season 2 yet? I'm really liking the Spanish theme of it all. Its kind of strange to see anime with a spanish soundtrack, but it works.
And people wonder why dubs are absolute dogshit. Even the sub for Nogatoro is basically just changing suspicious to 'sus', which would be relevant if they were in high school around now. So while cringe, its at least justifiable and not out of place. Its something a teen would say at least. This is just fucking idiotic and disgusting.
